Unfortunately true. Took our 6 yo nephew to lunch one day and his nose was in his tablet the whole time. When we sat down for lunch I had to say his name 5 times to get his attention and I asked him “Hey bud, do you know where you are or what we’re doing?” He looks around and says “nope”. Then went right back to his tablet. He has the attention span of a goldfish. His parents try to take it away sometimes and it’s like they unleashed a demon. He also has eating issues and is too skinny and won’t eat because he can’t look away. Just like a drug addict. The videos he watches are some serious brain rot stuff too. He’s more interested in watching videos of other kids play with toys than he is playing with his own toys.

@stephs_here I have softened on this point; with a baby and preschooler now, I'm extremely grateful for our wagon. the park is a 20 minute walk away and it hauls our stuff, gives me some privacy to change the baby, and has enough room for both kids and the older one's bike when he's tired

@mrsdobbins_ you have to make a routine of it! like brushing your teeth. 10-15 mins a day while you're relaxing, maybe right before bed. it's easier not to, but I'm the type to always think "what if," and if something ever happened to my baby, I'd forever wonder if kick counts could've helped

@ouranometrian2 I think most people are not willing to put in the effort that is required to raise compliant children without physical violence. They narrow their options to either having ill-mannered children, or using physical violence. The latter makes it easier to forget your failure

I made a tweet awhile ago that got eaten, so again...I always see these grand ideas of getting mostly perfect child compliance 24/7 and I think unfortunately the way to do it across the board is to probably use corporal punishment. weird how I never see that online.
