If you have a bunch of jargon words in your LI profile headline, I can tell you right now I'm very dubious you're gonna be a fit

More evidence that the strong correlation between physical fitness and risk of death is heavily confounded by genetics and other factors. This is a tough one for the preventive health community (including me)!

If you say you want to be involved in “strategy” during the interview process, you’re ngmi. Just means you have an ego, and have never done any hard work in your life. You earn this right.

Agency > Intelligence I had this intuitively wrong for decades, I think due to a pervasive cultural veneration of intelligence, various entertainment/media, obsession with IQ etc. Agency is significantly more powerful and significantly more scarce. Are you hiring for agency? Are we educating for agency? Are you acting as if you had 10X agency? Grok explanation is ~close: “Agency, as a personality trait, refers to an individual's capacity to take initiative, make decisions, and exert control over their actions and environment. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive—someone with high agency doesn’t just let life happen to them; they shape it. Think of it as a blend of self-efficacy, determination, and a sense of ownership over one’s path. People with strong agency tend to set goals and pursue them with confidence, even in the face of obstacles. They’re the type to say, “I’ll figure it out,” and then actually do it. On the flip side, someone low in agency might feel more like a passenger in their own life, waiting for external forces—like luck, other people, or circumstances—to dictate what happens next. It’s not quite the same as assertiveness or ambition, though it can overlap. Agency is quieter, more internal—it’s the belief that you *can* act, paired with the will to follow through. Psychologists often tie it to concepts like locus of control: high-agency folks lean toward an internal locus, feeling they steer their fate, while low-agency folks might lean external, seeing life as something that happens *to* them.”

@levelsio I currently live in Portugal, install this filter under all your taps takes 5 mins amzn.eu/d/7yzwTtw . I wanted a reverse osmosis system on the mains but I don’t trust any plumbers in Portugal to install it.

NEWS: Elon Musk said tonight that he expects xAI's next training cluster to have 1 million GPUs, worth about $25B-$30B, 5x more than their current 200k GPU cluster. "We're already working on the next training cluster. We anticipate it to be roughly 5x bigger than the current cluster."

Never felt more rage than standing in the Lisbon airport passport queue. 600 passengers 3 people manning the queue, 2 of them clock out. Love this country, but no one wants to work in Portugal. Hurts my soul.

1/ It's Time To Build: Healthtech Infrastructure 🛠️. In the “Maslow's hierarchy” of the healthcare industry’s needs, the infrastructure layer is the foundational workhorse of the system. Numerous (unfortunate) infra outages in recent years have shed light on the scale and fragility of some of the core, but often legacy, infrastructure systems on which the healthcare industry relies, but that need serious upgrades. Emerging business models and novel care delivery models also represent areas where infrastructure doesn’t even exist yet. Many of the largest and most important companies in the history of healthcare technology and services have been infrastructure companies, and they represent some of the potentially strongest, highest-quality business models. For builders, opportunities exist to either: a) massively upgrade existing areas of the infrastructure stack, or b) build de novo utilities and backend systems in emerging areas of the market where infrastructure doesn't yet exist. @a16zBioHealth @a16z @JayRughani @daisydwolf

Yesterday was my last day at BetterUp. I want to thank the entirre BetterUp team for my making time there one hell of a ride. Wishing the team nothing but success 🚀 And man, what a journey the last 4 years have been: - Graduated from @swarthmore during the pandemic - left my full time job at Goldman < 1 month in - did that ^ so I could build @joincrescentco with @jasonljin which we stared from our college dorm room - Left everything I knew behind and moved to sf to build crescent with $7k in my savings account - Spent close to 3 years building Crescent: Serving our customers, hiring awesome teammates, raising money from stellar investors, and going through all the highs and lows of the journey. - Sold Crescent to BetterUp in 2023 and got work with an amazing team building a once in a lifetime company. Feeling so much gratitude and appreciation for all these moments and the journey. I’m excited for the next chapter!

Is Google Maps getting worse, or is it just me? Feels like Google's best product is being intentionally ruined.
