@DerekAshauer Even with me (who literally does this every day) sitting in the room to answer questions, it became frustrating so fast that we both agreed he should use Squarespace since it would be a better result in less time, even if it's a SaaS and not as fully customizable.

@DerekAshauer My husband (literally a React developer) had a similar experience earlier this year, setting up a site for the local darts league. He tried out a local install of WordPress & attempted to make something attractive looking w/off-the-rack theme, no custom code & an events calendar.

I finally sat down with my wife to understand the frustrations she hit getting started. My conclusion: The introduction of FSE and a fractured theme ecosystem has completely broken the beginner’s path. Clearly, nobody is doing UAT in WP. Deeeep dive with lots of opinions 👇

@justintadlock Yes! I have worked on a theme where we already have a dark style json in place and were just waiting on the time/ability to add a toggle.

Been a while since I've been on an airplane, but this @Press__Conf trip makes me nostalgic for when I flew to conferences 1-2x a month pre-pandemic. I enjoyed that life (though it wore me out), but I'm content with the life I have now (though it also wears me out 😅) #pressconf
