Nobody has a “RIGHT” to a state pension.
It is a benefit paid for by the tax payers at the time you receive the benefit and it is subject to the same checks, balances and affordability criteria as every other benefit provided by the state.
Whoever told you national insurance was invested in a personal pension pot for you, lied. It’s a tax, like income tax, VAT et al.

These very nasty attacks on the state pension are unrelenting, particularly from this former Tory MP and @GBNEWS presenter. These people want it either scrapped altogether or only available to the very poorest. But all who have made the requisite National Insurance contributions have a RIGHT to a decent state pension. It’s a moral issue too. The elderly deserve a decent life in their remaining years. Indeed, looking after the elderly properly is the hallmark of a humane and civilised society. The anti-state pension activists are truly despicable.

Start with getting the slackers off welfare make sure work pays which is starting to, make sure the actual disabled are properly backed with help they need. Buy to let's of course every pensioner has one of those haven't they. You grasping a bit

the vast majority have occupational pensions, private pensions, SERPS, buy to lets………..

Stop using your grandparents as the norm. Most pensioners are not earning more than the average worker. Minimum wage is £27k on 40 hrs SP IS NOT£13K

the majority are not poor.. the average pensioner earns more than the average worker.
80% + own their own home.
+ overall they are wealthier than any other generation

Btw with the employer's contribution taken into account the excess taken out is not very much.

You do understand how tax works don't you? You earn over £12570 you pay tax on anything earnings, savings so a millionaire you will pay a lot

@IanJon407 @AuthorSJB @DaveJGJackson @albieamankona Try thinking this way, 73% of pensioners aren't millionaires, in fact the majority are either poor or have a few savings which they use to pay bills which aren't covered by the £900 they get every 4 weeks. Also those that own there home don't get any housing benefit or CT relief
