@DVHenkelWallace @zetalyrae @perrymetzger In Medley, the Common Lisp definers (DEFUN, DEFVAR etc.) do a "remove Interlisp Comments" pass first. I'm thinking we could make ; (or a Unicode closelooking alternative) into a readmacro that would insert "Interlisp" comments instead.

@zetalyrae @perrymetzger This is how it worked in Interlisp, which was edited using a structure editor (no whitespace)

New PL opinion courtesy of @perrymetzger: comments should not be treated like arbitrary whitespace but rather should have fixed places in the grammar. e.g. between declarations, between statements in code, that's it Makes writing linters 500x easier
