1/ American manufacturers pay 3x more to finance equipment than their global competitors. It has nothing to do with pricing or tariffs, it's a regulatory accident from 2008 that no one has bothered to fix until now:

Hand on the “towel rack” to avoid over controlling at a time when it isn’t needed (trimmed already). It’s been a long time since I went through flight school but I believe the main initial cause for this change was a prior jet that was easy or prone to over control and this was the simple solution.

We talked patents vs trade secrets, defense strategy, flying, and some of his helicopters.
Then in 2021, I finished @beacon_a_i's seed round at a friend’s house in Newport Beach. We went out on a Duffy boat and cruised by Palmer’s place, complete with a Mark V boat and (likely non-functional?) .50 cals.
In early 2023, I ran into him at a16z’s American Dynamism conference. He was in his now-iconic Hawaiian shirt and shorts while the rest of us were in suits. It was great having a quick catch-up in person.
I see lots of noise about Palmer on X. I’ve had nothing but positive impressions, not least of which was him making time to talk patent strategy with me back in 2020. The guy clearly cares a lot and seems to be an ultra authentic person.
Congrats, Palmer, on building @anduril and launching Erebor.
Can't wait to see what he does in the next 5 years.

I was watching the @tbpn interview with @PalmerLuckey about the launch of @ereborbank, and it took me back to peak COVID.
June 2020. Palmer did a webinar where, among other things, he argued that founders should think carefully before filing patents that hand key information to adversaries.
At the end, he said ~'If anyone has questions, email me.'
I figured he didn’t expect anyone actually would.
I emailed him, introducing myself and the very early days of Beacon.
He replied, offering to hop on a call.
