Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka have left England camp to return to Arsenal for “medical assessment”, FA says. Rice and Saka reported to England on Friday after being given time off by Thomas Tuchel. Their Arsenal club-mate, Noni Madueke, and Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton have returned to their clubs “with knocks picked up” against Uruguay on Friday. John Stones has returned to Manchester City “for assessment after picking up an issue in training” before the friendly with Uruguay. Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori and Dominic Calvert-Lewin also leaving camp, suggesting their World Cup dreams are over. Is Dominic Solanke the back-up No 9 to Harry Kane? Tuchel’s squad now a revised 27 to prepare for Tuesday’s game against Japan. Dean Henderson, Nico O’Reilly, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guéhi, Dan Burn, Elliot Anderson, Morgan Rogers, Anthony Gordon and Kane reported on Friday. #ENG

NATO members are obliged to support one another if attacked, not to join wars of choice. That stipulation was made at the demand of the US, which also insisted that the commitment be territorially limited. “The treaty does not cover the entire world,” said Dean Acheson. “It applies only to the North Atlantic area.” He made clear that this had been the key American condition. “We deliberately avoided any implication that we were undertaking a global military commitment.” The Senate, worried about being dragged into European colonial wars, had threatened to refuse ratification unless the limitations were explicit. As John Foster Dulles put it: “If it were made global in scope, it would not be acceptable to the United States.” Despite all this, the only time that NATO has gone to war was indeed out of area, at the request of the US after 9/11.

Patient attends A&E with a chest infection… standard stuff. Decides to pop outside for a vape and a bit of fresh air because, let’s be honest, the waiting room atmosphere could finish anyone off quicker than the illness. Next minute… casually clocks a bloke acting a bit off outside the maternity ward. Not aggressive, not shouting… just that “something’s not right here” vibe every frontline worker knows all too well. So what does he do? Doesn’t walk away. Doesn’t ignore it. Goes over for a chat. Two hours later… 🧠 Talked down a “lone wolf” terrorist 🎒 Convinced him to open the bag (yeah… that bag) 💣 Found himself staring at a pressure cooker bomb 📏 Asked about blast radius like he’s doing a dynamic risk assessment 🚪 Moved the whole situation away from the hospital entrance 🤝 Built enough trust to keep the bloke calm 🤗 Given him a hug when asked 📞 Got him to agree to call police before he “changed his mind” All while his own phone’s dead and there’s not a single staff member in sight to wave over. Genuinely the most British de-escalation imaginable: “Alright mate… talk to me… what’s going on?” No PPE. No backup. No radio. Just vibes, empathy, and absolute nerves of steel. Meanwhile inside: Crews stacked 8 deep Handover delays hitting biblical levels Someone asking “can you clear please” every 30 seconds And this guy is outside single-handedly preventing a mass casualty incident like it’s just another shift problem. Police turn up, job gets wrapped up, and he just wanders back in like: “Yeah I’m back… still got that chest infection by the way.” Probably still had to wait for discharge as well. Massive respect though. That’s not luck, that’s character. Calm under pressure, compassion when it mattered most. George Medal couldn’t have gone to a more deserving person. Proof that sometimes the difference between a normal day and a major incident… …is just one person deciding to step forward instead of walking away 🚑

Let me put this very simply. The UK does not have a system to defend its cities from ballistic missile attack. We rely on the United States under a NATO framework. That is the reality.

Greater Manchester Police say they have no evidence of family voting after an extensive investigation, including speaking to Democracy Volunteers and seizing CCTV: We’ve concluded our investigation into alleged ‘family voting’ at last month’s Gorton and Denton by-election, finding no evidence of any intent to influence or refrain any person from voting. Our investigation into alleged influencing of voters at a polling booth (under Section 62C Representation of the People Act 1983 (Ballot Secrecy Act 2023)) began after a criminal report from the Reform UK party following a public statement made by independent electoral observers at Democracy Volunteers. We have spoken to the four Democracy Volunteers observers present at polling stations on the day of the by-election (26 February) who have shared with us their eyewitness account. This includes some instances of more than one voter going into a booth at the same time, and instances of people looking over the shoulder of voters. The information they have provided to us estimates this may have happened on 32 occasions across 15 polling stations. The observers do not allege any verbal instruction or physical conduct that indicated one person was directing or coercing another regarding how to vote. This is a crucial part of the legislation to prove such an offence was committed. Our investigation team, led by an experienced senior investigating officer, spoke to all four volunteers from Democracy Volunteers as part of our enquiries – obtaining a copy of their observations. We also spoke to the Presiding Officers at 15 stations as well as the Acting Returning Officer, none of whom received any reports other than from Democracy Volunteers. We have received no further criminal reports. For us to investigate allegations, we require an understanding of who the potential suspects may be, and evidence that may corroborate eyewitness accounts. For an investigation to meet the criminal threshold for prosecution, we require admissible evidence of intent or action aimed at influencing the vote. We have asked Democracy Volunteers for descriptions of those alleged to be involved, and timings on when these are believed to have occurred. These details were not documented by observers or the complainant, and we have not been provided with any identities or descriptions to pursue. The absence of this information means there is no remaining reasonable line of enquiry. This also includes limitations with CCTV as an absence of descriptions, and votes not being time-stamped, meaning we are not able to identify individuals from footage. We have approached all 45 polling stations in the Gorton and Denton constituency to ask for CCTV from the day. Forty-one of those polling stations told us they did not have CCTV activated in the building as it would have compromised the secrecy of the vote during polling day, in line with advice given. We have seized and viewed CCTV from three of the remaining four polling stations. These are three polling station that Democracy Volunteers visited. We have spoken to the Presiding Officer from each one. However, these stations do not show any evidence of anyone directing or coercing another regarding how to vote – the crucial part of the legislation to prove such an offence was committed. There is no evidence to suggest any intent to influence or refrain a person from voting as stated in the Ballot Secrecy Act 2023. We have been liaising with the Electoral Commission, who we have shared our findings with. We have also shared our findings with the Returning Officer. We have updated the complainant about the work of our investigation and the conclusion we have reached.

@BenWallace70 @StateDept @ralakbar They forget… The US signed the Budapest memorandum in 1994 which guaranteed Ukraine’s sovereignty in exchange for giving up its nuclear weapons. Ukraine is exactly the US’s war.

SECRETARY RUBIO: The U.S. is constantly asked to help in wars and we have. But when we had a need, it didn’t get positive responses from NATO. A couple leaders said that Iran was not Europe’s war. Well, Ukraine isn’t our war, yet we’ve contributed more to that fight than anyone.

BREAKING: Trump just attacked NATO and then goes on to say that "25 years ago" he said that NATO was a "Paper tiger" and that "they would never come to our rescue". FACT: 25 years ago was March 26, 2001. Less than 6 months after that, on September 12, 2001, NATO invoked Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty for the first and only time ever. They lost 1100 soldiers fighting for us. Trump is a Moron.
