We flew into DC, then drove to Virginia to pick up my husband’s truck. While we were there, I also got my birthday present from him, a 1990 Ford F-250 HD 4x4. Het trieste is: dit gemeentehuis staat helemaal niet in Loosdrecht, maar in Hilversum. Toen de gemeente Wijdemeren werd bedacht en de oude soepfabriek het gemeentehuis moest worden, werd de gemeentegrens verlegd. Want is het een beetje mal dat het gemeentehuis in een andere gemeente staat. Die asielzoekers van Loosdrecht komen dus eigenlijk terecht in de wijk Kerkelanden, wat sowieso al decennia het getto van Hilversum is. En dit jaar is daar een nieuw Stek Oost-achtig experiment bijgekomen. In een groot cluster gestapelde containerwoningen worden asielzoekers, daklozen en probleemgevallen bij elkaar gepropt. Op kruipafstand van het gemeentehuis waar de 110 alleengaande asielzoekende mannen geplaatst worden (zonder voorzieningen, zonder dagbesteding). Arm Kerkelanden. Het was er al niet wat.
