remember when 512MB RAM was considered massive? programmers wrote code like every byte mattered. optimized everything. squeezed performance from nothing. suddenly nobody cared about efficiency anymore. just throw more RAM at it, problem solved. now we have 32GB RAM and Slack uses 2GB just to show text messages. Electron apps eat memory like it's free candy. we got better hardware and built worse software. abundance made us lazy.

California's zoning systems are probably too path-dependent to fix, but the bonusing and "multiple" approach is a fundamentally crazy & opaque way to control growth The only residential zones a city truly needs are NYC's R5, R6, and R12 (+ mixed-use equivalents)

These huge Halo / Ringworld / O'Neill Cylinder / Rama / Elysium habitats techno-bros like to fawn over are technically impossible - no known material has the tensile strength to support them! Best you can get will be a "Kowloon Walled City" in space.

It’s so funny how every guy thinks he’s getting laid on the first date and then slowly watching the disappointment on their face when they realize it’s definitely not happening

Austin is an incredible city. Tons of young people and babies. Weather is pretty good year round. Lots of land and affordable real estate. Tons of new developments mixed with hip, Austin weird. Tech is moving here in a big way. I see why Elon planted his flag here.

What is AI good at saving you time? One example is writing boring helpers like this.

Wow London is certainly not for everyone... 这女孩已经算挺不错了。。。
