@arthursgadelha There was a twilight zone episode very similar. The astronauts land to earth but later we realize they didn’t take off from the earth in the beginning

ideia de roteiro: astronautas voltam pra terra após longa missão interestelar no espaço profundo, são recebidos com celebração etc e depois de alguns dias começam a desconfiar que não voltaram pro mesmo planeta que saíram

I'm 33. I work 5 hours a week & make $40k/month. My secret? The most boring business idea you've ever heard. Here's exactly how it works (and how you can copy it):

This actually showcases how llms approach solving problems. The slop comes from llms being at the end of the pragmatist spectrum. Technically this is a valid solution and I have no idea how someone with no/low capacity for differentiating an optimal solution from a valid one can objectively assess whether they’re being productive or not.

"Gay bars are empty." Another classic line from Professor Jiang while predicting the US will launch a ground invasion of Iran. He is referring to betting markets noticing that gay bars US officials frequent are empty because they are pulling all-nighters at the office preparing invasion plans. So should we be asking ourselves if a disproportionate amount of homosexuals are involved in the Iran war? Maybe because they hold a grudge against Shari'ah law?

our creative process: every feature starts with a clear problem statement. from there we ideate → design → maybe throw it away → redesign → maybe reframe the problem entirely → prototype it → then live with it for at least few days → tune how the ai behaves inside it → live with it again → chances of killing it entirely are like 50% at this point.. & if it passes all of this only then do we build it into a real feature & ship.

@Jay__Borad @adahstwt Not true. It’s actually better for battery to keep it plugged in. If the green light is on it means laptop using power directly from the plug the battery is being bypassed

@adahstwt Not a myth! Keeping it at 100% constantly creates heat + stress = degrades battery faster. Most modern laptops have battery management to help, but 80% charge limit is ideal for longevity 🔋

does keeping your laptop plugged in at 100% while using it slowly ruin the battery or is it just a myth?

If your keyboard users can't see where they are on the page... then you probably broke it with one line of CSS. The culprit is "outline: none" on focused elements. It removes the focus completely. Mouse users won't have any problems, but anyone using tab to navigate will.

@nstfkc @Apple my theory is that they replaced their original QA steps with AI there so much stuff that would fail very basic QA steps but would pass automated tests (like this one)

more slop from @Apple : they forgot to add `scroll-margin-top` to their anchors in settings so searching for a setting will have it EXACTLY obscured by the top bar

You're not buying a device like the Neo to run a development environment. My point is it's not impossible to dev from the device, but you're not going to be running everything locally. You'll instead just be using an IDE/CLI to SSH/dev container. But for the average user that wants a low-end device and use the Apple ecosystem, this is a nice device for them.

Let’s cut the crap you can’t even use browser with 8GB ram. It’s impossible to use it for development. MacBook Neo is for the people who can’t afford to buy air or pro. It’s is a product to expand apple’s market share in low end devices.

As soon as you do something slightly advanced ORM limitations eliminate all the syntactic advantage. I still use ORM because 1 can’t handwrite high quality SQL 2 its cost effective time wise. I understand the both worlds. People who hate are not wrong they just have different priorities.

@johnbarker It's literally impossible. An IDE running a language server + dev server and a browser eats up all the RAM. Compilation / hot reload would be ridiculously slow. All you can do with that is to open one app at a time close everything else after using it.

@nstfkc I have a MacBook in my household with 8GB ram currently running Tahoe. It’s plenty for most tasks for the average user. And it’s not impossible to use for dev, but I wouldn’t advise it. No one serious about development is choosing this device.

You need to put insane amount of effort to make a small piece of UI really good. Especially on the web. So many edge cases you need to cover. So far ime AI gets you the 10% you need burn a lot of tokens to reach the same level. Often you end up with a code that smells worse than rotten egg.

I'm tired of vibe coders telling me "you're getting left behind" I'm not taking the same path You just want to build half-baked software that works, and that's okay I want to master my craft and build + explore maximum-leverage developer-focused software
