It is crazy how most gamedev Youtube channels that successfully launch a hit game just completely disappear afterwards, guess the brutal double burnout from content creation and development forces them into a long deserved retirement

@TBoneGamesDev Remote work is definitely a lifesaver for saving time, but you still get mentally drained from the main job and carrying that work stress in the back of your mind makes jumping into game dev feel exhausting

@orgunbertan Yeah I’m lucky I work at home for my full time job so I can usually get in some game development in around lunch and I don’t have the extra commute. Still don’t have as much time as I would like though ☹️

Most indie devs either have a full time job or crush side gigs just to survive while building their game. It’s a massive financial and mental balancing act that doesn’t get talked about enough

@zeelee3D So true, sometimes just stepping away from the computer for a few hours literally feels like a whole vacation in itself

@orgunbertan feels like non stop work and screen time, not complaining but I can’t wait for a vacation to turn off for a bit.

@orgunbertan Funny enough I’ve been tuning my algo too - carefully choosing what to click on, liking and replying to things that represent what I want to see and trimming my followers to better represent my niche, all to tell the algorithm what I want. Indie and retro goodness. And it worked.

My X feed has evolved to a point where I’m not just seeing indie devs anymore, but also game music composers and writers from more niche areas. The algorithm turning into a pure game dev ecosystem

@waywardisopod Handling all that hard physical work, a family, and university while still pushing your game is absolute legendary behavior, your kids and family are incredibly lucky to have someone with that kind of unmatched drive

Thanks for this post. I'm one of those guys, full time unloading freight, raising two kids, going to university, working on my games in my spare time. Then, I have to come here and read about all the privileged developers who are tired from vibe coding for 8 hours. We are not the same.

@orgunbertan I'm one of those. Two kids, full time job but I have ideas and experiences that I really want to share with people and games are the right medium. It's chaotic but I absolutely love it so far.
