Liberal candidate Raissa Butkowski laughed at during Farrer byelection Debate after claiming she's preferencing One Nation over Independent Michelle Milthorpe for “ease of reference" on the how-to-vote card. 🤦‍♂️ Not even elected & already treating voters like mugs. #auspol

@aaronsmith @corybernardi What Cory the Italian should also know is that most place names are chosen by Local Governments so good luck controlling all of them.

@corybernardi Isn't your last name 'Bernardi' of Italian origin Cory? Why do you expect Australians to accommodate your foreign name, but not any of the words of First Nations people? Talk about silliness Cory.

Seems crazy that in an English-speaking country the government keeps coming up with place and street names most people can’t pronounce. One Nation will preserve traditional names linked to our shared history and restore them where necessary. This silliness needs to stop.

Note Creighton no longer believes net migration in 2025 will be 550,000. In fact he no longer even mentions that forecast which he made in mid-2025. afr.com/policy/economy…
Institute of Public Affairs@TheIPA

“The deafness of the Labor and Liberal parties to the rising anger throughout last year has been extraordinary.” In @TheAustralian, Adam Creighton writes that after three years of steady decline in real incomes, the electorate has woken up to the impact of mass migration. 📰 Read more: bit.ly/4qAyWqi

Eliminating the CGT discount will make the family home an even more attractive investment. An investment thats immune to inflation and tax is the best you can hope for in this place. I’d say it’s positive for house prices overall.
Scott Phillips@TMFScottP

If we're going to change, and we should, a return to indexation is the only policy-based solution. There is, and never was, justification for an arbitrary 50% discount, and no justification for a 33% or 25% discount either (the latter could well be worse than indexation).

So once hate groups have been listed, how will Govt agencies identify who is a member of these groups beyond the most prominent leaders? What resources will be allocated to enable search for members in OZ & overseas in sufficient detail to enable listing on MAL?

This is what you call a proper and perfect Australian Team picture. Everyone chilled, relaxed and having a beer after a hard fought Ashes series win. No religious bullshit applied here and everyone feeling inclusive and loved.

@TMFScottP Hi @TMFScottP , not much point cutting Company Tax when our largest companies don’t pay any? Perhaps a business transactions tax is worth exploring as an anti-avoidance measure though consumers will end up paying it.

I'm an investor. And I've regularly said productivity is our largest mid-term economic challenge. But given Australia's franking credit system, where company tax is essentially a pass-through mechanism, I've never been convinced cutting it is necessary or even helpful A 🧵 1/n

@stephenjduckett @ConversationEDU The other aspect to study is whether reducing the rebate and redirecting funds to public hospitals at the macro level (e.g. via the Medicare Agreement) would lead to a movement back to the Public System e.g. by surgeons? I, for one, would doubt it!

The healthcare provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act stand as a principled effort to restore fiscal discipline, uphold personal responsibility, and protect life. By tightening Medicaid eligibility, introducing modest work requirements, and redirecting funds away from procedures that violate biblical convictions—such as abortion and gender-transition surgeries—this legislation ensures taxpayer dollars are spent wisely and morally. It empowers states to innovate, trims bureaucratic waste, and sustains a safety net truly focused on the vulnerable, all while reinforcing the dignity that comes from work and self-reliance. In doing so, it reflects both conservative values and the Christian belief in stewardship, compassion rightly ordered, and the sanctity of life.

@ilda_talk @KosSamaras Net Zero does not mean Zero for those illiterate of the maths. Net Zero TARGET means Carbon Out = Carbon Stored e.g. by trees, oceans etc.

@KosSamaras Net Zero will cost the public more because the govt has to build new infrastructure. Why would anyone in their right mind support that? It’s not even foolproof! More and more countries like New Zealand are dropping Net Zero because it is unrealistic to expect no C02 emissions.
