@night_waker I love the fact that if something is shit, it's rubbish, but if it's 'the shit' then it's the best! 🤣
English

@campbellclaret That's a joke - to have a military that could support Ukraine and be involved in Iran would've needed at least Cameron to kick things off 10 or 12 years ago.
English

Recalling so many similar pieces during the last decade

English

@afneil You're joking right? Starmer hasn't been in office for 2 years and he's to blame? How long does it take to get anything done in government...if we'd wanted the sort of military that could support Ukraine and get involved in Iran, then it would've needed a 10 year run-up!

@jegolton @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Giving Ukraine an increasingly sophisticated defensive capability is escalating the conflict. Sanctions and political isolation may slow things down, but would China, Belarus, Hungary join that? I don't know the answer, but stopping the constant killing is, IMO, a start.
English

@philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret I don’t believe in escalation but that Ukraine should be given the best defensive arsenal available. I think proper sanctions and forfeiture is useful and will harm Putin's ability to keep fighting. Putin is the aggressor; you can't defeat his ideology.
English

Our interview with the President of Ukraine, @ZelenskyyUa, is out now.
In this in-depth conversation, @campbellclaret speaks with Zelenskyy about everything from the personal toll of the war and his daily calls with his mother, to the bigger picture: Putin’s mindset, US involvement, and the shaping of new alliances.
Watch now. Link in replies.

@clarenafo @pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret I'm uninformed you say, yet you're posting pictures of Shrek with some very exaggerated text to make your argument...ok. I don't allow hyperbolae to affect my views on things, I agree, Ukraine is in an awful situation, but they will never defeat Russia, so what is the answer??
English

@philchalk @pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret They spent decades under Moscow's boot. They know what horrors it entails and the generational trauma it brings. is simply not acceptable for people who are as uninformed as you to blithely make these ridiculous suggestions. It's literally this 👇

English

@danwootton Shouldn't you be concentrating on reviewing the soaps with Lorraine...leave politics to those who know a bit about it. And calm down guy!!
English

You are a fucking dangerous lying evil man who has destroyed the capital city where I have lived for over two decades.
There is no "outrage economy" or "disinformation" from me.
The Islamist takeover is real.
I HAVE BEEN MUGGED TWICE.
MY FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE BEEN MUGGED MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY NEIGHBOURS HAVE HAD THEIR HOMES INVADED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT AND THE POLICE DO NOTHING.
MY FRIENDS ARE TOO SCARED TO WALK THE STREETS.
Try and censor us all you want, but you will never shut down the truth.
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan
Disinformation about London has become a global industry. The new “outrage economy” is growing - and it’s eating away at the bonds that hold our society together. That's why I'm calling for urgent action from social media companies and government. theguardian.com/media/2026/apr…

@SartorialThug @Rosscom_com Wouldn't wear red trousers myself, and I always think they are worn by a certain type of chap, ie ex officer of a Guards regiment, out for an autumn/winter walk across the old country estate...also wearing an old but well maintained Barbour jacket and flat cap.
English

@Rosscom_com I have no issue. Every chap should own at least one pair of red trousers
English

@Nigel_Farage You're a f**king w**ker Farage...someone should throw a milkshake over you to shut you up...tosser
English

Starmer is a pathetic excuse for a Prime Minister.
Only one party can get rid of him and begin to turn this country around.
Vote Reform. Get Starmer Out.

English

@pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Yep, you're a bit too emotional and shut off to any other viewpoints to argue with
English

@philchalk @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Ah.
So first a denial of russian mass murder of Ukrainian civilians, and an attempt to pass them off as "collateral", then a pivot to Iran.
After demanding that Zelenskyy "be the bigger man" and "make a sacrifice".
We're done here, wherever you're sipping your coffee.
Goodbye.
English

@pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret There's no mass murder... there has been significant collateral deaths which is terrible, but not "mass murder", that is the effect of two sides throwing high explosives at each other. In the first few days of the Iran conflict a school had been bombed...was that mass murder?
English

@philchalk @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret That's not quite what you said.
The point of Ukraine defending itself is that if it doesn't, it ceases to exist. Putin won't stop.
Let's be crystal clear, here. You're asking him to sacrifice people to a despot. A despot who authorises torture, kidnap, mass murder. OK with that?
English

@pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret "Make a sacrifice" means end the war, agree not to join NATO or EU (for x years) and, if absolutely necessary, allow Russia to continue to occupy areas of Ukraine. THEN, push ahead with a coordinated diplomatic effort to get Russia out of Ukraine. But stop the killing first.
English

@philchalk @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret "Make a sacrifice". How many Ukrainians?
"Hopefully temporary". How long is "temporary"? (And I can tell you, it won't be viewed as that by the russians).
No russians would be killed in Ukraine if they weren't there. Why aren't you calling on Putin to stop?
Why just Zelenskyy?
English

@pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret It's not normal anywhere. The point I'm making is that there is no point to keep killing each other. Putin is a despot, Zelenskyy must be the bigger man and make a sacrifice (hopefully temporary) for the sake of people's lives. Tell me, as things stand, how does this war end?
English

@philchalk @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret So it's even more bizarre, then, that you are quoting almost line for line russian propaganda. You're advocating rewarding armed invasion, a violent land grab, and mass murder, the kidnap of children. Is that normal in Yorkshire, Phil?
English

@M11402516M @pictureladyjan @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret "Typical Yorkshire"...that's a joke. I live in West Yorkshire, and the difference between various people here is massive - what is "typical", some imaginary stereotypes that you hold dear? I'd better get off and get to Ilkley Moor b'art 'at (bet a bot wouldn't have said that)
English

@pictureladyjan @philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret This isn't a typical Yorkshire person Jan. I'm Yorkshire born & bred & we're a stubborn lot re our own homes & land. My two grandfathers fought for freedom in WW2 & they'd be appalled at those suggesting a repeat of the Sudetenland mistake & the temporary 'peace' that brought
English

@pictureladyjan @M11402516M @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Both my feet are in Yorkshire right now...at a coffee shop in Colton, Leeds. What's the number of followers got to do with anything? If I wanted millions of followers I'd do videos of eating pizzas or whatever
English

@M11402516M @philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret 39 followers since 2008. I doubt this "Phil" has ever set foot in Yorkshire.
English

@Obinbobble @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret The war has far from consumed Ukraine...nothing like it. If you want to see what happens when the gloves come off, look at Gaza. Russia could unleash hell on Ukraine, but they haven't. I don't support Russia, neither do I support seeing people killed without a view of an ending.
English

@philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Amongst the many points you miss, the most probable outcome of ceding land to Russia is that they just regroup and come back for more once they’re stronger.
The war has already consumed Ukraine.
The whole question was sorted diplomatically years ago but Russia broke the deal.
English

@jegolton @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret If you can't solve through diplomacy then how do you solve it? Do you believe that fighting, possibly escalating the fight to include more participants, is the way forward? Explain please
English

@philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Grievances? It's an ideology of reclaiming the old Soviet Union lands. You can't resolve through diplomacy. You have independent countries or you don't. #dobetter
English

@pictureladyjan @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret I'm not Russian, but I do live in Yorkshire, and I am British. What I'd like to know is how you all see this playing out in Ukraine? Do you think Putin will just pack it all in at some point and walk away? Do you think sending in other euro forces will stop Putin...what?
English

@philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret Ah. 39 followers since 2008. This is a russian account.
English

@KarinaKanepe @pictureladyjan @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret I think I do - it boils down to Russia not wanting NATO or the EU on its borders, and being excluded from those two alliances may be the price Ukraine has to pay to stop the killing (on both sides)
English

@philchalk @pictureladyjan @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret You do not understand Russia or their goal here.
English

@FittingMechani1 @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret There's nothing fair about this - if it was fair Putin would go to jail and Ukraine would get it's land back, but that's not going to happen in the short or even mid-term. Zelenskyy may have to agree to some things for now that he doesn't want to - that's the price of peace
English

@philchalk @RestIsPolitics @ZelenskyyUa @campbellclaret You are not being fair.
Zelensky called for immediate ceasefire and negotiations, Russians refused. The only one blocking progress is Russia.
You said that Russians should get to keep occupied lands, but they want more so they refuse ceasefire and negotiations.
English
