So, I am back down to 1x speed. I started a month or so ago, and it feels like a little bit of detox. And I think I'm regaining some capacity for patience and attention. Even my breathing feels better.
Now I need to work to get back to 1x speed in the rest of life. Stay tuned for that.

I love podcasts. They are my primary mode to take in new information.
I love them so much that I typically listen to them at 1.25 to 1.5 times normal speed. "Efficiency", I told myself. It's a way to take in more of the goodness. I've done this for 4-5 years, maybe longer. The only pods where I couldn't do this were any episode with @pmarca. (1/3)

However, I noticed something in late 2025: I found myself becoming more and more impatient in conversations. Real life, face to face, where feedback is provided and received in real time. Seeing the impact at home with my wife was a real warning. She knows when I'm forcing something, losing attention, or getting antsy. No hiding any of it from her (and it is awesome to be known by her so well). (2/3)

Noether’s Theorem ✍️ This equation reveals that every continuous symmetry in nature, a change you can make to a system without affecting its physical laws, brings about a conservation law. In simple terms, if the universe does not react to a certain change in perspective, it must keep a related physical quantity constant. For example, since the laws of physics remain unchanged no matter when you are (Time Symmetry), energy is conserved. Since the laws are the same regardless of where you are (Space Symmetry), momentum is conserved. Because they stay the same regardless of which way you face (Rotation Symmetry), angular momentum is conserved. This insight shifted our view of the universe. We no longer see conservation as just a series of lucky observations, but as a necessary outcome of the symmetry of space and time.

Well, Semper Vigilans - I wouldn’t relax on this any time soon. In the age of vibe coding, we’ll see more of this. But as the market and processes mature, we’ll see more thorough design reviews and attention put on enterprise-grade models. I hope. They’ve been telling network engineers for over a decade that we need to move this way. So maybe a dose of that same medicine will help 🤓

I'd be very happy to never have to worry about this again. The tendency to want to solve an immediate problem without considering how this plays out if every problem is solved in this way, is one of the weaknesses of many #LLMs I have used for coding.

Yep, understand - strike “content” from my previous statement and leave “services” in there. I think the logic applies equally.
And I don’t know anyone who does more to get the word out on your services, and is as transparent as you about how you do it. I go to Keith Class on X on a regular basis 🤗

@scottrobohn I’m not as excited about content. I get inbound requests for it. I really only quote it for traditional CTOA customers. The only entry point for new customers is via an advisory package.

I'm really good at what I do.
But that doesn’t mean it’s valuable to someone else.
That realization stung.
Entrepreneurship taught me that being skilled isn’t enough—people pay for outcomes, not talent.
It’s humbling. And it’s why I’ve stopped asking “what am I good at?”
