@davidfrum @TheAtlantic In 2016, 538 gave Clinton a 72% chance of winning. That’s about the same odds as flipping a coin twice and getting heads at least once. The fact that Trump managed to get tails twice in a row is unusual, but hardly proof that the polls were “wrong”.

@tbombaci I often think about this photo when I hear or see Newsom mentioned. A selfish hypocrite with weak ethics.

Never forget that this is Gavin Newsom at a restaurant during lockdown when we were all locked in our homes, not allowed to see our parents or grandparents on their deathbed in the hospital, go to church and had to wait in line to go into the grocery store. @NFLFootballOps Was there an officiating error during the Raven's recovery of the Stafford fumble? The umpire signaled "stop clock" when the ball was initially recovered near the 50 with 1:23 on the clock. The clock appeared to stop.

@baseballcrank I read the Bluesky thread. I think Ken was saying that he would rather be a dead American than a live Trumper, like the old “better dead than Red” slogan. I don’t think it was meant as any kind of threat towards Trump supporters.

18. The next time someone tells you that Newsom had to Gavinmander the State of CA by drawing Pouncing Puppies in San Diego, remind them that the reason Texas had to redraw Congressional Districts is because Biden sued and lost which resulted in TX having to redraw its lines.

I am tired of hearing that CA is redistricting to combat President Trump and TX redistricting efforts. Texas was forced to redistrict because the Biden DOJ sued Galveston County and lost which changed the law thus making 4 TX Congressional Districts unconstitutional. 🧵

This is part of what I find so frustrating. Kimmel didn't say that it was too early to speculate about the shooter's politics. He suggested that Robinson was MAGA based on no evidence whatsoever! He shouldn't have been fired but that was a fuck-up. theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@davepl1968 Had a manual as a backup, but I primarily used an electric. My typing class used a Selectric II with the ball.

We learned typing on manual typewriters. If hammers aren't flying, you're not typing. Granted, could only must 45 wpm :-)

@TP4myBunghol @Acyn You’re right, the specific example Trump gave would be “I reduced drug costs 250%”. I was just trying to give a similar example using Trump’s apparent formula.

@seitz2all @Acyn Actually I think he means instead of prices going up from 10 to 50 like it will for the rest of the world, it will only go up from 10 to 20 for the US. So in this scenario, he thinks he’s reducing the cost by 250%…

Trump: You understand and we will be reducing drug costs over the next year by not 50 or 60% but by 1000%… Because if you think of a $10 pill -- it will be raised up from 10 to 20 because it's the world versus us, the world is the bigger place.. so it will go from 10 to 20… for them which is bearable. And it will go from 10 to 20 for us.

@Acyn I’m skeptical of the claimed savings. But even if true, the correct phrasing is “reducing increases by 1000 percentage points” rather than “reducing costs 1000%”.

@Acyn OK, I think I get it now. Trump is using the wrong term, but what he seems to be claiming is: -Before Trump, prices would have increased 1000% -After Trump, prices will increase 0% -Ergo, Trump reduced drug costs 1000%
