We’re saying goodbye to the Sora app. To everyone who created with Sora, shared it, and built community around it: thank you. What you made with Sora mattered, and we know this news is disappointing. We’ll share more soon, including timelines for the app and API and details on preserving your work. – The Sora Team

@LundukeJournal The funny part here, being how long we have to wait for Slack releases (latest, 15.0 came out in 2022!), by the time the next version comes out, these laws could very well be invalidated.

Will Slackware Linux implement Age Verification? Patrick Volkerding, the creator of Slackware, has answered that question. "I'll weigh in a little bit here, I guess. At this point, I'd rather not implement something like this and don't see the point of the legislation as written (other than, more than likely, get a foot in the door.) But my code is my speech. I doubt these laws would survive a challenge, as it's pretty clearly government compelled speech. Any lawyers looking for a test case? :-)" linuxquestions.org/questions/show…

@thiojoe i've been ranting about this for years. Even on my 1080p 2ndary, 3 per row is obscenely large even without browser being max width. I've had to resort to just zooming out the browser until it finally makes it 4 per row. i assume google's UX team is slowly going blind.

@nixcraft System D was never part of the Unix philosophy. It was always the anthesis to it. More precisely, it believes in the Microsoft philosophy of making single services bigger and more bloated for every release, obscuring what it really does as much as possible.

systemd lost the plot a long time ago. they stopped following the Unix philosophy and now they're busy adding nonsense like age verification. Just like Firefox, systemd doesn't understand its core user base. There are plenty of distros without systemd

@TheWulffDen Did you use the same program to edit both images? i seen some people say twitter is tagging anything made with apps like photoshop as "made with ai", since they have options for it. (so it may be basing this all on exif data on images, lol)

>From these experiments, it was thought that there was to be only one cure for helplessness. In Seligman's hypothesis, the dogs do not try to escape because they expect that nothing they do will stop the shock. To change this expectation, experimenters physically picked up the dogs and moved their legs, replicating the actions the dogs would need to take in order to escape from the electrified grid. This had to be done at least twice before the dogs would start willfully jumping over the barrier on their own. In contrast, threats, rewards, and observed demonstrations had no effect on the "helpless" Group 3 dogs.

If only people would put all this hate they have for image/video upscalers and "enhancers" into autotune in music, we could have a chance at good modern music.

@ModernVintageG This take reminds me of how, you can show a guy an attractive woman, but tell him she has the opposite political views as him, and he will be all "shes an ugly whore!" While this level of "enhancements" quite objectively changes the art design, its not bad, just different.

@GodofGrunts @Adriksh Did AI generate this response? because it completely misses what was stated, and actually affirms it in an amusing way.

@shaogens @Adriksh Still a better chance of it getting discovered in open source than closed source. CVE-2008-4250 which we never really found out the origin of and was probably a state sponsored attack, was available in Windows for over 8 years

"open source is secure because anyone can audit the code" implies that anyone is actually auditing the code. nobody is reading your 40,000 line c library. we are all just blindly importing it and hoping the original author didn't wake up feeling evil today.

@OlexGameDev Fun part is always guessing: Did QA miss it, or did they bug it and got lost in a backlog for being deemed low priority?

@nixcraft Maybe the people being let go can form their own bug tracking and documentation products to compete. Then we can see if its the people making the product, or the managers that keep fucking up the usability and experience.

@GiveMeBanHammer Most frustrating thing is, Epic absolutely has the resources to build a legit competitor to steam without the exclusives gimmick. But for some reason, they dont want to do anything beyond the bare minimum of a game store template.

1. You have no idea how many years I absolutely HATED Valve and Steam, from 2009 to 2013, because it was so crap back then. Steam literally had to turn me from a hater to a fan from sheer service improvement. 2. That’s great…problem is other than GoG, other storefronts actually don’t really care to give a better or more unique service that makes them proper competitors to Steam, hence winning over more gamers organically. 3. Instead of properly competing, Stores like Epic resort to more underhanded tactics, namely poaching devs to release Exclusively on Epic. Don’t see you calling that out. Your argument is weak, if your only point is “you are only saying this because you are a Steam simp”.

Blows my mind how very hard you Valve glazers will simp for industry stagnatin until the end of time. Yes Steam is the superior option, but we should be pushing for improvments and an evolving industry, not relishing in the 30% drain, and end of innovation that modern Steam represents.

@CromRedoubt It would of sounded a lot better had she simply said, "we were feeling a bit home sick and wanted what we consider comfort food." but no, it had to be made into a hit piece targeting some country called "Europe"
