@DJSnM They surely have touchdown sensors on lander legs, it's probable that they have a polling algorithm from multiple sensors to ensure landing. But this might be an edge case, GNC should have been robust to this scenario though.

So… what if the IM-2 lander had one leg touch down on a boulder early, and then the engine was still firing to keep it upright? You one like a helicopter on a mountainside with one skid on the surface, keeping power in the rotors
