@AmarOAlamdar @archeohistories Not true. Around 705 CE, the Umayyad caliph Al-Walid had the church of St John in Damascus demolished. Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem destroyed by order of Al-Hakim bi-Amr Allah, ruler of the Fatimid Caliphate, 1009 CE. There are more.

In the very first photograph of the Parthenon in Athens, taken almost 200 years ago in 1839, an observant eye will notice an Ottoman mosque in its center. It was demolished immediately after Greece gained independence from the Ottomans in 1843 to showcase the idealized classical Greek identity again The Parthenon had served many different purposes over time, first a temple to Athena, later a Byzantine church, and eventually a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of Athens in 1458. Following the establishment of the modern Greece after the Greek War of Independence, Greek authorities removed the Ottoman structures from the Acropolis in the 1840s in an effort to restore the monument’s classical appearance and emphasize the nation’s ancient heritage. The Parthenon suffered one of its greatest destructions in 1687, when a Venetian bombardment ignited an Ottoman gunpowder store inside the temple, causing a massive explosion that blew out much of the structure still missing today. © History Pictures #archaeohistories

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT FOR LONDON OVERGROUND STAFF TO CONVEY A SIMPLE MESSAGE FROM ONE STATION TO ANOTHER? @TfL

AGAIN no ramp assistance from London Overground staff on arrival at Clapham Junc. today: the person assisting at the start of my journey phoned ahead, but I was left stuck on the train at Clapham Junc. Member of staff on platform later abruptly defensive when I complained. @TfL

@NM_Rdg @TfL There were no staff on the platform, the one person who should have been bringing the ramp was hiding in his little booth doing nothing at all, and claimed he hadn't been told I was coming - he was rude and abruptly defensive - intolerably bad customer service attitude.

@squirrelpot @TfL I wish I could be on a train when this happened. I'd lean out of the train and signal for help. They wouldn't be able to close the door with me leaning out of it. What could they do? I'm attracting their attention to something that needs resolving before they leave the station.

Cars were already prohibited but now taxis and buses (20 routes worth) will be removed or terminate early creating a ‘transport desert’ over 1.2 mile length. Disabled/older people having our access removed. Do you see the direction of travel ? #Exclusion
