@xwanyex Studies like this are stupid because they rely on random people to report their spending. Unless they get 99%-100 to report their numbers don’t mean anything.

Sorry for the poor memory, but I was listening to a debate on audio a while back — I want to say a Reason debate — about a similar topic came up and somebody from the audience (who I think very well may have been Coleman Hughes, just based on the voice, but I’m not sure) asked one of the debaters about data showing that Black people spend much more money on luxury goods than do people from other races with the same income. The debater basically responded that the question was insulting and ridiculous and beneath answering. And I just remember thinking, yeah, that about sums it up the state of “debate,” doesn’t it.
Helen Andrews@herandrews

Very cool source. In 1930, the majority of urban black households purchased “high-grade coffee” such as Maxwell House rather than less expensive brands. In Nashville and Birmingham, it was over 90 percent.

@RubenGallego They don’t care because he is black. They assume every district held by a black person is racist because they only want white people in Congress in the south!

@bloodwealthsoil @FischerKing64 That’s not sovereignty. It’s nonsense that would lead to interstate wars. Article 4 made the constitution the supreme law of the land by your reasoning the 4th and 5th amendments would be optional in state courts and state could impose cruel and unusual punishment if the wanted.

That was the original outlook though. The BoR was only what fedgov couldn’t do. Any localism makes travel a pain but the sovereignty is generally worth it. That said: 1. The internet makes location weird 2. I should be able to travel through states as long as I’m not stopping there. If that’s not the case then NH could effectively blockade Maine.

Some people are saying ‘but you want the original meaning of the Second Amendment right to bear arms though!!!!’ No I don’t. What we should do there is overturn the ‘incorporation’ doctrine that allows SCOTUS to apply the Bill of Rights against the states. That only became a thing in the 20th century really. If we let that dumb idea go, then Nebraska could ban porn (sacred speech under current SCOTUS law) but allow gun rights, and Illinois could ban Saturday night specials but allow Pornhub. Everyone would get what they want - and we could have that ‘competition among the systems’ that would show us what works. My money is on Nebraska.
FischerKing@FischerKing64

The birthright citizenship thing is very simple. It doesn’t make sense in a world of air travel and porous borders where US citizenship is an extraordinarily valuable commodity. Forget the ‘heritage American’ debate or the ‘original meaning’ of anything. It’s just ridiculous now

@MendlovitzMark Massachusetts does not have enclaves of republics that are being split up. You can show a city in Massachusetts that was split in 3 to prevent minorities voting for who they want.

* Tennessee was MORE Republican in the last Presidential election than Massachusetts was Democrat (by about 5 points). * Both states have 9 Congressional seats. * Massachusetts has deprived its Western Republican voters of representation for decades, while Tennessee has given its Western Democrat voters representation all along. * When Republicans exercise the same "equity and inclusion" for Tennessee (9 Republican seats) that Democrats have exercised in Massachusetts (9 Democrat seats), Democrats go bananas. Turnabout is fair play.

I’ve been warning that the Constitution— as long construed — does not allow favor to any one group unless it is remedial That the largest urban areas are so heavily dominated by rainbow-negro/non-White administrations (e.g. NY/LA/CHI/MEM/ATL/etc) shows that there is no longer a need for remedial artifacts as per the Voting Rights Act The current landscape merely reflects a happenstance contrivance that the association of negroes with the Demo Pty provides for old-time politics to masquerade as racial matters—particularly as the beneficiary of the current process is the Rainbow-Cult & not the negroes owned by the old slavers party

Um, because they have the straits of hormuz closed and the military options are apparently all terrible? At some point these folks need to reckon with the fact that maybe they believed in something that was actually incorrect.

We have a once in a generation -- maybe once in a century -- opportunity to break what might very well be the worst terrorist regime on the planet. Why on earth do we continue to allow it to bargain for the terms of its continued survival.

@BarbMcQuade How did South Carolina ever acquire a Black Senator I wonder. As Roberts has said: “the way to stop discriminating by race, is to stop discriminating by race”. As Thomas Sowell said: “when people are used to preferential treatment, equal treatment seems like oppression”. Think

@sircalebhammer Problem is he has liars on his show like the guy who claim to be active duty and receive VA disability at the same time which is impossible. Every claim is vetted at multiple levels by people the Vet has no idea who they are. They all require medical service connection.

Nope. It’s not even asked about in our show form. We don’t ask about it in pre-interviews. Half the time we don’t even know what % disability they have, or if they have it at all before filming. But FA has people on with bad finances, don’t be surprised those are the abusers. That doesn’t mean all vets are abusers. I’ve called for MORE VA funding specifically, but I’m also against fraud. Supportive vets and being against abuse can exist at the same time- and actually should.
Max the World-Weary@max_schneiter

@StraightLineUSA At this point I have to assume Caleb Hammer is deliberately seeking out guests who have these VA disability backgrounds because it happens way too often to be a coincidence. This is likely propaganda to push the idea that the VA should be defunded.

@ReubenR80027912 The fraud show is full of crap. He consistently post lies like an active duty soldier receiving VA disability. The VA forces Vets to show how any injury is service related and still active. The idiot just don’t understand 20 years of war produce a ton of injured soldiers.

Theory: Our reluctance to even touch veteran disability fraud comes from *the same place* as our general reluctance to fully articulate the problems with immigration In short: We know pure luck is semi-responsible for our good fortune…and we lack a framework to defend that
Nicholas Decker@captgouda24

We spend $220 billion a year on veterans disability benefits! It's insane! This doesn't include the spending on healthcare -- they're pure transfers to whichever veterans are most able to lie and stretch the truth. That's a third of the entire military budget! Just to fakers!

If any Black (or any person) person wants to get elected to Congress going forward, they will have to engage ALL parts of their district to win the election, especially the White demographic. Reps should engage even those constituents who didn’t vote for them.

@Stacielee1970 @billysandytodd Neither has a Republican. She is one congressman. The state legislature that is super majority R’s won’t help either. Is just good old fashion racism. @therealsybare @WanjiruNjoya The supremacy clause was ratified after the civil war. Prior to the war, state sovereignty had been a condition of Connecticut accession. As of 1861, the precedent was that each state was sovereign. Lincoln had no legal basis to order an invasion.

Many say that Robert E. Lee was traitor bc he went against his oath as a military man. What about Mr. Lincoln raising an army to invade his own people? Did he not swear an oath to protect his citizens? Which oath precedes the other? The Colonel’s? Or the Commander-in-Chief’s?
