@hartgoat Curious. What is your position when AI takes over most of these jobs, especially on the lower end. Why is this the hill to die on when it won't be standing in a couple of years?

This is such an elitist take. Years ago I worked 16 hour days and you know where that got me? It got me let go so they could replace me with someone they could pay far less than me. In less than a year every American at the job who did in fact work 80 hour weeks were replaced by a whole group from Bangladesh

@BlazeEigs @jordanbpeterson @elonmusk Cuz it's people's livelihood that is getting fkd over by a weak ass law that fails its expressed intent and kicks American families in the gut. This is not free market in action. It is the wild west

@jordanbpeterson @elonmusk I can't understand why this is even mildly contentious. The drift from the free-market mindset of Americans is worse than I thought. It's been frogs in slowly boiling water to this point. Plenty of books on this. Perhaps we've stopped reading!!

@AnnaGorisch @FPWellman The line on the right was the sticker. The line to read between was immigration only from countries 'that looked like Americans'

@ManacledGerm @UnsaidAngle @vikramchandra I think assimilation requires giving up the idea that you can only be secure in your likeness, your kind. It is embracing whatever idea of collective identity exists proximal to where you choose to live

@UnsaidAngle @vikramchandra What is the point of assimilating if it means loss of identity? Mormons, Amish, Muslims preserve their culture and are still perfectly American. Muhammed Ali and Kareem Abdul jab are were never challenged on their patriotism or American identity. Why are Hindus different?

The strange part about the recent hate in the USA is that the Indian American community is actually a model minority. The highest per capita taxes, well assimilated, built more than 90 unicorns, created plenty of jobs. Most of them embrace American ways and American values. That's in contrast to, say, Canada - which did get in a lot of scamsters and Khalistani trouble makers - many of whom are not well assimilated. And many of whom make little effort to fit in. Hence it is possible that the "anti Indian immigrant" storm could blow over in the USA faster than in Canada. And if it doesn't, then there is something deeper at play.

Do you support raising immigration country caps? @elonmusk, @VivekGRamaswamy, & @realDonaldTrump are right. But we must tackle country caps (currently 7%) & green card backlogs (years/decades). The Dignity Act addresses these to increase American prosperity & competitiveness.

@KonstantinKisin Just like the woke left, there is a spectrum. It is a less than perfect union of insecure and lazy but white entitled young uns mixed in with ppl who are genuinely funked over by the system with a healthy smattering of disenfranchised white supremists who saw DJT as their saviour

Now that Elon, Vivek and others have come across the Woke Right, it's helpful to once again lay out the basics. The Woke Right is a section of the Right which, like the Woke Left, believes in racism for the "right" reasons, has a conspiracy about how the world is systematically and institutionally against them and happily uses the tactics of mobbing, cancellation and other woke tactics to attack their opponents. They don't believe in discussing views and ideas, only in winning. It's basically like BLM for white people. You can read more about it here: konstantinkisin.com/p/thou-shalt-n…

@_aphid7 @patrickbetdavid Sacrifice? Also, I never said I was cool or not cool with it. I just expressed the facts. People make choices about their lives and the roles they choose to play. Some play for junior league, others play for the World Series. At the end of the day, you live with your choices

Respectfully, both the app + the phone you’re using were built by a founder and executive team that worked 80 hours a week for many years. Also, our founding fathers worked and fought non stop (more than 80 hrs/week) to build America. We’re beneficiaries of their sacrifices.
Andrea@usebigears

@patrickbetdavid Kindly Patrick, Working 80 hours a week is not a healthy role model.

@AdmiralOfSol @tyrannideris @SomeRocketGuy01 I really want to have an honest convo. I don't disagree with you in principle. Buy if people were indeed > corporations help me understand capitalism, free markets, Healthcare in the US, education. To me it always feels like profit before everything

@AdmiralOfSol @tyrannideris @SomeRocketGuy01 Perhaps I could articulate this with a bit more patience. You are not an island. Your need for a job is second to the need of a company to be and remain globally competitive. Hence, wage pressure is not solely the result of H1B, it is a function of globalization.

@markpoling @MikhailaFuller More people should talk about this @elonmusk Remove clauses on imported labor. Don't have them on a leash. And have a 1.5x premium on payroll for any imported labor.

@MikhailaFuller H1-B visas allow companies to import labor that will accept lower initial wages AND who aren't free to change jobs should better opportunities arise. It's not about qualifications. It's the artificial corporate cost discount that's the problem.

People who think less qualified Americans should be hired over more qualified legal immigrants are the same as pro DEI people. Getting smart people to move to your country, is good for your country. Do you want America to stay the world power or not? - An immigrant
