I get that the joke is making fun of robots and their inability to perceive things as a human would, but scenarios like this have genuinely happened to me many times throughout my life and people have gotten angry at me because they thought that I was being a smart aleck. As a kid, it confused the crap out of me and all I could think was, "Why am I in trouble? I did what you told me to do!" This is a big reason I try not to yell "common sense" as a way to dismiss actions. There are well-meaning people out there who follow logic, just not everyone else's logic. Hanlon's razor and all that.

@yschlu As a kid, people's anger confused me. As an adult, this situation still happens, but people's responses to it doesn't confuse me anymore. I understand that they get angry because they assume I think the same way they do and that I'm messing with them.
