Through live imaging enabled by new tools, Wuergezhen et al. visualises the hidden dynamics of the basement membrane (BM). We show how BM turnover & expansion coordinate with cellular movements & divisions, highlighting their active & synergistic roles in skin morphogenesis.

Great time hosting Fumio Motegi, my cell polarity hero @BDR_RIKEN. Incredible phenomenology of flow and forces in cytoplasm and at cortex. Mechano-chemical interplay in morphogenesis never ceases to amaze. Thank you for such a feast of science and lots of encouragement to ECRs.
