@BlueAtHeart4 You still have other players step up. Still had Tavares, Knies, McMann, Laughton (before they were traded), McCabe among others. Having Mitchy in that line-up helps significantly especially a 100 point player

I get you feeling like it's tossing him aside. The efficiency IS the thing. I can't say he's the best production wise because Jokic leads the league in rebounds and assists. I can't say it's scoring because Shai is so much more efficient. With Jordan, we have to consider the efficiency curve of eras. But yeah, it's the efficiency that is the differential. Luka blows a LOT of possessions because of the sheer VOLUME he uses (He scores on way more). Shai leaves nothing on the bone. I'll look at total points created (Points plus points from assists) and maybe that's the angle. "The top total scoring producer this season"

On the other, we say “ehh, idk what Luka is doing is historical” When Luka has the most 25 pt, 30pt, 35pt, 40pt, 45pt & 50pt games this season, just set a Lakers record for total pts, reb, ast & steals (considering his short tenure & the ridiculous list of greats that have worn that jersey is wild) & is avg numbers historically only achieved by MJ, Kobe & Harden in a season. “SGA is the best scoring guard since MJ” when he’s not even out-scoring Luka in the same season. So my question is, is it the efficiency that makes us say SGA is such a greater scorer? If seeds were swapped, Lakers had the 1 seed, OKC in 3rd, by these same metrics, would Luka be your MVP then? Is it the winning & 1seed that is the great differentiator? Considering what you wrote (I enjoyed the piece) trying to wrap my head around how one is historic & MVP worthy, while the other is tossed aside. If it’s winning & seed, then I can accept it. If it’s efficiency & that is what makes one the greatest scorer since MJ, but the other a “one man army”, then I’ll just never understand it (esp considering MJs efficiency vs Luka’s which historically are not off by a far margin & Luka edges eFG%).

@Jay_D_Rosehill He is a hustle type player. Probably developed this tenacity from a young age being undersized. One of the reasons I think the leafs liked him out of the draft. I think its just a bonus that he developed skills and performed beyond expectations for the Knights

I’m not saying one metric is better than the other, but the NBA one uses 29 tracking points on every player’s body 60 times per second to see how defenses are manipulated and the vid you sent just kinda similarly but vaguely tells you what goes into theirs.
