@BramRecorder

Citizen who records what happens at city events via live tweeting. I am not a journalist, just a policy wonk.

Read this thread and series of responses from the president of the TWU and you’ll understand why I continue to believe the current mentality of US unions ultimately harms the pro labor movement and will turn public opinion against them.

Your hubris is astounding . The 2-worker train crews will never be gone . Hochul sided with out of town classists like you , not blue collar NYC , and that’s unfortunate, but it’s inconsequential because neither you nor your arrogant wonky ilk , nor the governor herself , will defeat the @transportworker . Good luck with the fight you jackass . Our contract expires in 5 months . You’ll be pissing and moaning again when the dust clears you pathetic loser .

How do we turn Toronto’s surplus lands into affordable rental housing at scale? At the next Making Room, Mark Richardson of @HousingNowTO will unpack the city’s record so far, the obstacles that keep slowing projects down, and the policy lessons hiding inside those delays.

I so wish the Canadian Conservatives ran on being a competent alternative to the Liberals instead of "We will build nothing and have no vision for the cities where most people live"

Conservatives in 1867: We will do whatever it takes to build a railway from coast to coast, through muskegs and mountains to unify this country. Conservatives in 2026: We will fight tooth and nail against building a railway on flat land that would connect ~50% of population.
Scott Robertson@sarobertsonca

Pierre Poilievre on the Toronto–Quebec City High-Speed Rail Network: "Conservatives oppose the $90b Liberal-Alto train ... a future Conservative government will cancel this $90b boondoggle altogether."

@ForengBrown @EricDLombardi Nothing to do with the mountainous terrain in BC and steep slopes increasing costs? Also, more regulations due to the risk of landslides on these steep slopes from improperly constructed roads?

It’s worth noting that a 50% decrease in development charges in a city like Toronto still leaves them about 10x higher than they were at the turn of the century, adjusted for inflation, and around where they were in 2018.

@SelinaMRobinson @JakeLandauTO The vast majority of the people referred to by "the Epstein Class" are not religiously nor ethnically Jewish. Would you also say "condemning the state of Israel for the IDF deliberately shooting small children can only be motivated by antisemitism"?

Why the fuck would you mentally associate Jeffrey Epstein with being a Jew? You're calling other people antisemitic, yet you publicly conflate these things in a way which is extremely dangerous for our people!
Selina Robinson@SelinaMRobinson

What happened to the @WabKinew who was sensitive to racism and antisemitism? Let the Epstein class fight Epstein war … WTF - you do know this is code for Jews right? The @ndp the @bcndp and the @ndpmanitoba have all lost their way. The Jew hate is real.

This is not how the modern economy works. We need to get government *in the way* to increase our capital stock per worker. The productivity growth in the US is driven by Intellectual Property. We will be accepting decline if we don’t to keep our data, research, and patents.
Pierre Poilievre@PierrePoilievre

Canadian workers earn 55 cents for every dollar that American workers get. After a decade of anti-growth Liberal policies, we produce less, move less, and earn less. We don't have to accept decline. We must get government out of the way to green-light projects, attract investment, and grow paycheques at home.

@dtzb @kevlap017 I am talking about the legal mandate for some businesses to use two languages in all general operations, including supervision, head office functions, etc. This is, to my knowledge, unique to Canada. The OLA should be overhauled or replaced.

@10hrgaming @LeftHandStu @CoopTory He has had a C-suite job at Air Canada since 2007, he could afford the time and money to learn French, even with a private tutor. And since he is in Montreal, he can very easily practice it

@BramRecorder @LeftHandStu @CoopTory 1. No he doesn't have to. 2. Even if he's really just an evil human being who cared so little about the pilot that he intentionally decided to hate on him and all of Quebec, it doesn't make it illegal or require politicians to recall him for whatever reason. Just an asshole..
