Mainoo hate is actually getting weird, I really don’t understand the reason? Just went on TikTok and saw 2 video from 2 football creators. First one was saying how bad Mainoo’s passing was yesterday (he had 93% pass accuracy) and the other said they’d now take Wharton (didn’t even start either game), Garner and Henderson to the World Cup over him. Rogers, Palmer, Foden, Gordon and White were all far worse than Mainoo and didn’t get a mention in either video, both by neutral fans, nor have I seen them criticized on here anywhere near as much. Really don’t get it.

Amorim never doubted Mainoo’s talent. But he was right - he lacks the pace to play as an 8. At this level, if you can’t cover ground or recover, you get exposed. We saw it again in that goal.

Nothing specific on Djed Spence, but in general terms you will never convince me that a full-back should play with the opposing dominant foot to side their on. A left-back should be left footed, a right-back should be right footed.
