Found this amazing specimen via @FontsInUse and I think someone should really do a revival of one of these in order to strike while the megazoid/gikit iron is hot

Does anyone have any idea what typeface this might be? It might be from the ’50s to ’70s, although those ‘g’s remind me of lettering from around 1900 as well. @FontsInUse Do you recognize it by any chance?

On Dec 13 we posted the tweet shown in this screenshot. Tonight, that tweet is hidden, replaced with an ad, as part of Musk’s hamfisted/fascistic ban on all Mastodon links. So, we can’t link you to our social network of choice, but you can get there from fontsinuse.com.

@FontsInUse It’s all-caps, but here is a sample of Klinger-Antiqua in case you want to use it.

Klinger-Antiqua (1919) by Julius Klinger. A beautiful art nouveau typeface with rather unusual serifs. The concave apex of ‘t’ lends itself beautifully to the ſt ligature. And some lovely ch/ck/tʒ ligatures! From ‘Klinger-Antiqua: Ornamente und Schmuck’ (H. Berthold AG., 1925).

Hey @FontsInUse, I have a minor addition to the Phanitalian (1879) entry. It says Phanitalian is shown as Bohemia by Solotype (Dover Publications, 1992). I also found it shown as Bohemia in ‘Victorian Display Alphabets: 100 Complete Fonts’ (Dover Publications, 1976)—on page 13.

Here’s a little info about the third-party cookies on fontsinuse.com: There are none. Last year, as our team discussed GDPR conformity, we agreed it was easier and better to drop any need for cookies than to have an opt-in popup. Receipts: themarkup.org/blacklight?url…

@jmsoleb Yes, it’s indeed the AT Vol. 2 from 1965. Similar samples are also shown in the One Line Manual of Styles from 1971, just smaller and w/o the stretched and obliqued variations.

@FontsInUse @raind00gg @stewf @espiekermann Can I ask what the book is, please? I vaguely remember seeing something very similar at St Bride and I am wondering if this is one of the same set. The one I saw was Alphabet Thesaurus Vol. 2.

A fascinating article about a discovery of a giant star with spiral arms close to the galactic nucleus of the Milky Way! But I really don’t enjoy this typeface, with its spurless curvy ‘u’ and a rectangular ‘n’... ds.xem.plus/scientists-dis…
