Tweetorial for UK docs using @CernerUK PowerChart (not sure if this format will be useful but here goes) First a question: how would you rate yourself as a PowerChart user?

@ModernMilkMan you’ve left your bike blocking the entirety of where the curb dips (double yellow for a reason), making it quite hard to cross the road with small kids on scooters - and it’s a bit of a tricky crossing as it is. Please be more careful next time.

@TfL your driver LJ17 WRR just now going past stop CC Battersea Park / Chelsea Gate has run a red light and almost hit me as a pedestrian! Looked at me as well so clearly saw me, unapologetic.

This data from the charity @asthmalunguk was kindly highlighted to the public by @tobithomas_ and @guardian. Asthma and COPD remain common and major causes of ill health and death both in the UK and globally, yet both are underfunded (especially COPD).

“A stark and avoidable injustice in respiratory health” ⚖️ This, in the words of @HugoResp, is the situation laid bare by a recent analysis of NHS admissions data by @asthmalunguk 🫁 Dr Farne was interviewed as part of @guardian coverage of the study: theguardian.com/society/2025/d…

@AmazonHelp @AmazonAlexa Disappointed that an Echo Show I gifted my sister for Christmas mainly for the drop in function (to use with my ageing not tech savvy parents and my young kids with no phones) does not support drop in currently. They’ve now unplugged it ☹️

@AmazonHelp @AmazonAlexa Yes if you saw the screenshots on my first message you’ll have seen that your team have recognised there is a problem with Drop In that the technical team are working on and will address in a future software update. Not a user error.

They were sceptical about its usefulness as “it doesn’t do anything you can’t do with a phone” - but “drop in” is different. Would appreciate an update when the software fix is ready so I can tell them to plug it back in.

Restricting access to suicide methods is one of the best evidenced approaches to prevention. Barriers on bridges, limits on paracetamol & in developing countries, a ban on pesticides. New review by my Manchester colleagues & friends. 1st author @SarahESteeg
BMJ Mental Health@BMJMentalHealth

📢 New Research 👇🏼 Does restricting access to lethal means prevent suicide? An umbrella review in @BMJMentalHealth finds strong evidence for physical barriers, pesticide bans & reduced paracetamol pack sizes, though study quality varies & LMIC data are scarce. @ProfJDChalmers @donsin4 Agree but difficult to do a trial ethically when I suspect we all give T2 biologics for their comorbid asthma and wouldn’t want to randomise to pred? And would be open label given sc vs oral. Is this a trial for a resource-limited setting? Also ethically challenging

@donsin4 I use them and they work but it’s totally lacking in evidence. Guidelines still say long term steroids as first line It’s an anomaly because this is just a subtype of t2 inflammation = of course it will response to anti-t2 biologics !

Given the success of new anti-inflammatory biologics, is it time to retire chronic oral steroid therapy. What would be a clinical indication for chronic oral steroid therapy in respiratory medicine?
The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology@TheLancetEndo

Individuals on long-term oral #glucocorticoid treatment display an estimated prevalence of #osteoporosis or fractures as high as 30–50%, rendering glucocorticoid therapy the most common cause of secondary and iatrogenic osteoporosis thelancet.com/journals/landi… .

The nearest stop (junction of Wood Lane and Westway) has been closed for 3 weeks to re-lay paving slabs. This has added yet another 10mins to my commute! Another reason for a stop closer to the Hammersmith Hospital campus.

Worse today - last day of tube strikes. I can only report 5 of these. When will you make this a non parking zone @limebike? When will you create an e-bike parking area @CityWestminster? Disruptive for @ImperialNHS

@CityWestminster @limebike @TfL Ongoing problem with Lime bikes obstructing TfL cycle docks on South Wharf Road. I report as often as I can and have time. Please consider making this a “no parking” zone for Lime bikes obstructing TfL+/- creating a dedicated space for them.

@TheRAC_UK I wanted to thank Justin, your excellent engineer who replaced the battery in our car this morning. He rang in advance, was punctual, quick and friendly, and provided useful advice to prevent recurrence. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks!

@doclip1 Same duration of expiration and flow rate though? Find this is what most of my patients who can’t do it struggle with the most, but suspect it is an insurmountable obstacle given NO levels are proportionate to flow rate and need a certain amount of time to reach a plateau (?)

@HugoResp seems to me that it’s a better all round experience in terms of user interface and graphics and display, but you’d have to ask the company if you want more granular information

@theveindoc You can argue about pay - how close it should get to which year using which inflation figures, over how long. But there aren’t enough jobs throughout training & as GPs & consultants. Doctors being unemployed was unthinkable 5y ago let alone in your day.
