It's so generous spirited of @owenjonesjourno to take on the mantle of determining what Iranians are and are not allowed to think about the war, having already been under the huge burden of determining what Jews are and are not allowed to think about antisemitism. Update: And as one of the replies below says, he also selflessly tells women what rights they are allowed. There really is no end to his generosity.

@RugbyKids_ @harriepw All it takes to abolish labour is for people to stop voting for them. That's the difference with a monarchy.

@JanetsEscapades @PlinthBotherer5 Governments have to make difficult decisions, Ombudsmen don't. The generation that owns Britain does not need a handout from current taxpayers.

The WASPI women are quite instructive in some ways. They observed all of the correct rituals for lobbying and campaigning and turned up on breakfast TV relentlessly without ever EVER HAVING A POINT and while plainly not telling the truth. Stop inviting them on to stuff

'It's just such an injustice' WASPI campaigner Jan Fulster spoke to #BBCBreakfast after the Government again rejected compensation for women born in the 1950s affected by changes to the state pension age bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@jon_trickett I'm 32 and will be retiring at 68 or probably later if the state pension even exists by then. I wholly resent the idea of my taxes going into the pockets of the boomers who own the house I rent. Good decision government. MPs should try representing taxpayer constituents for once

WASPI women aren't asking for favours. They're asking for fairness. The Ombudsman found they were treated unjustly and should be compensated. Refusing to act on that breaks trust and leaves women paying the price for government failure.

So the reason the government are now giving for not compensating WASPI women is 'If we'd sent letters out to them, they probably wouldn't have read them'. Pat McFadden @patmcfaddenmp you're an utter fool if you think we're falling for that. It's a lazy statement made with no basis in fact. Just an assumption by a lying government who made promises in 2022 and reneged on them once elected.

@WASPI_Campaign There are many injustices in modern Britain - why should this be a priority given the WASPI generation are so wealthy on average.

Yes indeed. financial circumstances are not an excuse and neither should ministers refuse to act because it would be too ‘tricky’ to implement. An injustice is an injustice. #WASPI

@MatthewStadlen @Steven_Swinford @patrickkmaguire Miliband: 'I've had the best inoculation possible against wanting to be labour leader... By formerly being the leader'. This might get clicks from your foaming followers but the man has been pretty clear - he's not interested. Streeting however...

Exclusive from @patrickkmaguire Ed Miliband is likely to be the Labour membership’s preferred choice to succeed Sir Keir Starmer as prime minister, according to polling that reveals the scale of unhappiness at the party’s grassroots The energy secretary has the highest approval rating of the mooted candidates to replace Starmer as leader, according to a survey conducted on behalf of City advisers last week Wes Streeting, the health secretary, also scored strongly - with members telling YouGov that the ability to beat Nigel Farage was a more important quality in a candidate than sharing their values Keir Starmer's approval rating is **minus 3 per cent**. He had a positive rating of 33% when Labour members were last polled in September Approval rating: Ed Miliband: 55% Wes Streeting: 44% Lucy Powell: 31% Shabana Mahmood: 18% Rachel Reeves: 13% Keir Starmer: -3% thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@GlumBird @michaeljswalker The article you linked is interesting but doesn't talk about possible physical advantages from going through male puberty and then competing against those that didn't - I think that is the tension Walker is referring to.

@michaeljswalker Here's a study which shows TERFs do not "have a point" on sport. You're meant to be a journalist, should probably actually have evidence to back up your knee-jerk hunches bud. cces.ca/transgender-wo…

The reason the “fairness in sports thing” is a successful tactical wedge is because it’s where terfs have a point. Terfs also have a bunch of fringe and unpleasant ideas which should see them isolated, but they get a free pass because anyone sympathetic to trans rights but who thinks there could be some conflict between trans rights and womens rights in certain domains is labelled a revolting terf and never wants to speak on the issue again.

@jackseale @Inseeer @michaeljswalker I've never seen convincing evidence that going through male puberty doesn't confer permanent muscle mas advantages - until that evidence exists there is a tension.

@Inseeer @michaeljswalker I think maybe in the early days, weeks or years of the "debate" that might have been reasonable - or still now if it's someone you know. But at this point the chances of someone coming out with terf talking points who is receptive to facts are so low as to be essentially zero

Just once more because I've seen this so many times... I don't think defund/abolish police is a bad idea because the public don't like it. I think its a bad idea because it would increase crime and crime is bad. I don't think there's a tension between trans inclusion and fairness in sport because the public think that. I genuinely think one exists (how we resolve the tension is a more complex question). The relevance of public opinion relates to how the left deals with people who hold opinions like mine. To me, it seems self-defeating to try and ostracise people who hold opinions which are also held by the vast majority of the public. You won't get change that way, and, I think, it leads to the left having a bunch of very poorly tested ideas. But that's just my opinion. Over and out. ☺️
