You can achieve your goal with 7% FD also, but the monthly SIP required will be very high. That's the sole reason for being in Equity.
Even at slab rate tax, Bond Fund > FD.

Happy to have a genuine discussion on this. There are multiple fund managers who have given 15%+ CAGR over 10+ years. Moreover, you are talking of gross returns. Bonds/FDs are taxed at slab rate. So the 30% vs 12.5% comparison eliminates any comparison whatsoever when it comes to investing for a 5+ year horizon.

Its dumb to invest in Mutual funds to make 10% cagr in 10 years.(not accounting for rupee depreciation)
Gold, Corporate bonds and various other bonds can easily make you 10% cagr or more without the volatility of equity markets

Now the gains from that Arbitrage Fund will be clubbed with his income and taxed at 30% ❓❓

@BahlKanan @RupeetoolByFGM Yup, this is coz LTCG income of 1.25 Lacs is still a part of Total Income, people get confused and think that 1.25 Lacs is exempt. Section 112A prescribes the mode of tax computation, where tax is to be calculated on gains over and above 1.25 Lacs, its technically NOT EXEMPT.
