Then what is your take on Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants? A Medical School Graduate with a MD has twice the education and WAY more training than a NP or a PA at graduation. Yet, a NP or PA can be a Cardiologist on Friday and Gastroenterologist on Monday. They can even work in the ER or ICU. Someone make this make sense. They both bill your Health Insurance 85% a Doctors fee if seen Unsupervized. #Hospital #scam #CORRUPTION

@RespectIsVital An LP is a procedural skill, I'm a nurse I do them in my practice. I received far more training relevant to that procedure than most doctors do before attempting their first one.

If I, an non medically trained person, attempted a lumbar puncture, I'm fairly certain I'd be arrested for assault or ABH. Physician Associates (PA) have no business even thinking about lumbar punctures, let alone attempting one. PAs are a ploy to hit targets whatever the cost. They shouldn't exist. In my unqualified opinion, there should be more support for nurses with x̌ years of experience to "uprate" to being a doctor. They are an untapped gold mine of knowledge, experience and understanding of medicine.

@ohioisgood Unless this is bad writing they are saying he died within hours of being admitted. If he was that unstable he shouldn’t have been sent to the unit from the emergency room to begin with. It is normal in a small town hospital that the ICU isn’t staff by a 24/7 physician.

This young man at 26, was attending dental school while drinking so heavily he had a GI bleed, pancreatitis and needed an Ativan drip for his alcohol withdrawal. He had much bigger problems than being in a community hospital that didn’t have in house intensivists. Bless 😪

@LighthouseDPC NP and PA are apples and oranges. An NP can actually treat a patient independently. A PA must work supervised under a doctor. Knowledge of pharmacology is a major factor, as well as actual clinical experience.
