There is so much forgotten DIY music from the mid 2000s and 2010’s. It’s crazy. So many touring bands selling CDR’s, xeroxed tapes and homemade t shirts at their shows. None of it online or preserved. People today have no idea

a large part of the culture was championing all the tiny little bands that got forgotten cuz they were way too niche to have the longevity or mass appeal of sufjan or vampy weeks.

To me, the most definitive part of hipster-dom is knowing the most obscure band/scene before everyone else. The constant search for the authentic created tiny micro-generations of hipsters in places like Williamsburg, hence me thinking The Rapture ruled & the Bravery was cringe.
