So the standard for defamation when you're writing about the FBI director is (rightly) very high. But calling @Kash_Patel a drunk in a 100% unsourced story - no emails, no documents, no named quotes - in the face of an on-the-record denial may get there. At a minimum I can imagine the suit surviving a motion to dismiss, which would force @TheAtlantic to disclose sources in discovery - or agree to a settlement that would put it out of business.
