@MinorMidgetGTHL @Nuke_the_whale A selke is more of a team award .. team structure .. dcore and goalies are a major factor in a selke.. there’s no real solid stats to say how Good one is defensively.. not to mention being solid defensively is mainly just making sure you are on the defensive side of the puck

@erekzoolander @Nuke_the_whale 1. Selkes are NOT meaningless. 2. Winning 3 Selkes is a significant indication of elite level defending. 3. Barkov has been major part of 2 Stanley Cup championships. Yes a team award but Barkov was a key member of that team. 4. See Panthers without Barkov this season!

@MinorMidgetGTHL Barkov. He does a lot of things Pasta never had to riding shotgun to Bergeron. If Matthews gets back to form I’d put him in 6th. Pasta= no hart, pearson, ross, or ring. Always the bridesmaid personified.

everyone will have their own criteria for what generational means. it's not anything close to an exact science. to me, it's a very restrictive group that leaves out a lot of legends, and it's not close to an insult not to be on that list yet at age 19

@Slimhmmm @JFreshHockey 97/mack/kuch careers are now and McDavid is well enough into his where you can say he is generational .. he has a lot of records that are only eclipsed by 99/66 .. you can’t say that about kuch or Mack.. hence why they aren’t generational

@BennettChr44386 @ContrarianYEG @JFreshHockey No not simple minded .. it’s a term for the best player in the generation .. not just 3 scoring titles in his late 20s and early 30s .. or not guys that are solid defensively.. getting points is the hardest aspect .. 3rd line centres are paid to be solid defensively..

@xseldonx @JFreshHockey Mack and kuch weren’t producing at 18 .. hell they didn’t really produce till they were 22 and 24.. and even then 97 is always 1 or 2 in points through this entire career.. can’t say the same for the other 2

@JFreshHockey I think you can have more than one generational talent at any given time. Connor McDavid’s existence doesn’t mean Mackinnon / Kucherov etc aren’t generational talents (imo).

@JFreshHockey McDavid vs Kucherov. Not saying McDavid shouldn't be thought of as potentially generational, but it feels like this is the marketing machine from when he was 16. Kucherov has beaten him multiple seasons in a row. Career stats are similar except for the cups.

@Kingofturtles1 @JFreshHockey McDavid entered the league at a ppg .. and has more points than both and they entered the league 2 seasons before him .. 97 if not finishing first in scoring was second or top 2 in ppg .. kuch/mack are nowhere near that.. and that’s not even mentioning playoff production..

@JFreshHockey 10/10 times in the last 10 years are you picking McDavid to be your first pick for a team? Never kucherov or mack or even Leon? I feel McDavid is too close to be "generational". Maybe I am being too strict. To me generational doesn't mean the best it means best by faaaaar
