@MatthewBerman At this point I know far more people who have suffered severely damaging, life altering events due to AI automating scams or frontier models pushing people in horrible circumstances with no mental health history into full blown psychosis
English

@MatthewBerman Transcends AI. The tech landscape is a dumpster fire. White collar megacorp model was never good and is fracturing, after the pandemic brought catastrophic economic disparity the silos inform us they want to replace us and make energy unaffordable

I don’t see the vision for a tornado outbreak tomorrow. Crazy trough but the storm evolution just isn’t favorable for a tornado outbreak and imo has not looked favorable for the last 2 days. High risk level environment possible no doubt but storm evolution more favors a messy ENH risk level verification with a few embedded supercells in an otherwise washed out warm sector and messy cold front. Moderate seems like an okay middle ground although the odds of a “bust” seem way more likely than any boom scenario. We shall see! All it takes is one cell to make it a memorable day.

@GergelyOrosz Google is outstanding engineers and just braindead product design. Silicon Valley seems to just get more siloed and out of touch. IMO if they axed 90% of their product teams, and just gave us the endpoints their margins would go up and great products would emerge.

Google products which doesn’t help Google sell ads directly or indirectly seems to eventually either be shut down or sold, no matter how good it is.
Google Reader (shut down), Google Domains (sold to Squarespace), Stadia (shut down), and now Google Fiber:
Andrew Carr 🤸@andrew_n_carr
This is the worst news I have ever heard. Prepare for the price hikes and throttling :/

late night coding and watching @ChasingWConnor nados from 2025, awesome stuff

@BeforeAGI13 @hamen This unironically would make an awesome movie. Make a legit doc about him building Keen. Then randomly in the background as they are out to eat a meathead stands up and points him out “Hey Nerd!” Then the guy picks a fight and gets choked lol

Imagine you're John Carmack
you're 22 years old and you just wrote a 3D engine in assembly that runs at 35fps on a 486
Doom drops. Quake drops. Half the planet is playing your code.
you're the reason GPUs exist. you're the reason your friend Jensen has a yacht today.
then in 2009, you sell id Software. people call it betrayal. you call it "they made an offer I couldn't refuse."
VR obsession. Oculus. Meta buys it for $2B. you're CTO.
but Meta thinks you're a liability. your demos are "too intense." your emails are "too long." your focus on frame timing is "slowing us down."
2022. they push you out. not fired officially. just "restructured."
the media writes "end of an era." some crypto bro calls you "washed up."
silicon valley moves on.
but you don't.
you don't write a book. you don't start a podcast. you don't collect speaking fees.
you go completely quiet.
you take the money. you buy a warehouse in Texas. you hire 10 engineers. and you start coding.
not games. not VR.
AGI.
two years. radio silence. no tweets. no conference talks.
while everyone's debating ChatGPT, you're debugging CUDA kernels at 3AM, testing world models.
then in 2025, Keen Technologies pivots hard. you're not "exploring" anymore. you're building it.
here's what people get wrong:
everyone calls it a comeback. a redemption arc. "revenge on Meta."
it's none of that.
you're a 54-year-old engineer who still codes 12 hours a day because you genuinely can't stop.
most CTOs would have bought an island. most legends would have written memoirs.
you just kept typing.
the most dangerous person in any codebase is the one who goes quiet and never stops shipping commits.
karma doesn't need to be real.
but obsession is.
welcome back, Carmack.

@hamen Wish I could work for him. Silicon Valley makes me sick, people with true passion inspire me

@jessi_cata I think about this tweet frequently. In practice profoundly taxing mentally, but produces extremely valuable output
English

@jessi_cata As someone who has been as close to the edge as possible since the Apple II, I can’t help but feel we lost our way somewhere. In the early 80s we imagined a different future, one where the tech served us, but somehow I feel more “bound” than liberated by where we’ve arrived
English

@TheAhmadOsman check out @tsoding anytime he mentions AI/vibe coding, the bait is real
English

@zodttd @TheAhmadOsman @lauriewired my friend being female is beside the point, it's flat out absurd to decry misogyny over an ironic meme, then to take it a step further to go after the income of a guy who didn't create it nor was responsible for whatever brigade happened. degenerate behavior.
English

@fapi_ai @TheAhmadOsman @lauriewired It’s not a male/female thing for me. I like her tech content. It’s that she put good people down. She put her own female supporters down as well, no bias. She’s just not a nice person to nice people. Just my opinions.
English

@TheAhmadOsman For the record I didn’t DM her or harass her nor say anything rude. I simply pointed out she was “punching down”, trying to seriously harm someone with a much smaller platform
English

@zodttd @TheAhmadOsman @lauriewired I’m gonna make a video about it. I have female influencer friends I’ve “talked off the ledge” of this sort of behavior. Laurie is well secure in her platform but her majority male YouTube audience wouldn’t find this petty decrying of misogyny very attractive
English

@fapi_ai @TheAhmadOsman @lauriewired Same happened to people around me, including myself and others, with no basis. She used her following to elevate herself by putting others down.
English

@lauriewired has a huge platform and is punching down trying to try to get a guy to lose his income because a meme he didn’t make went viral. Totally degenerate behavior.
English

@valigo @lauriewired Nope, it’s harmless post of a meme he didn’t even make that went viral so he tipped his hat to the company paying his bills. The guy is a nobody influencer and Laurie’s response is to try to get him to lose his income. Laurie has a huge platform this is petty, punching down
English

@lauriewired This is legit LinkedIn levels of sociopathy. Channels that "I threw her under a bus and here's what it taught me about b2b sales, btw sign up for my newsletter" energy.
