Yes hence why assuming that half the world won’t pick the other way out of mistake or self preservation is also asinine.
Blues are essentially signing a mass suicide on this hope over some indeterminant amount of total fools.
The -only- argument one can have is that children can’t be trusted and you have to hope they’re in the game and there’s some -actual- moral responsibility towards them.

if the buttons question was phrased as "there's a red button and if more than 50% of people press it, everyone else dies," people wouldn't choose to do that dangerous thing, but it's the same question.

I didn't think that if you created a twitter poll that says:
1. Kill exactly half of humanity
2. Don't

We did the red/blue voting thing and everyone else voted and now it's your turn. The vote tallies are suddenly revealed to you and the vote is exactly 50/50. If you vote blue everyone lives, if you vote red all the people who voted blue die. How do you vote?

@G0ffThew It's only short sighted if you don't take into account game theory. In game theory everyone takes the option that leads to the best outcome for themselves and therefore everyone would press the red button and no one would die

The calculus to press red is, to put it kindly, short-sighted idiot math. It begins and ends with “what input gives me the best odds of living” with no regard for what the world you’d be living in - where everyone you can trust is dead and everyone else knows it - would look like

It’s simple to me. If you believe 100% of people will pick red, pick red. If you believe even 1 person will pick blue, you should pick blue. I think >50% will know the second is the actual reality and they’ll pick blue.
