1) I covered minor league baseball for 30 years. I fully believe players must get lots of time in minors to develop, through ups and especially downs.
I know everyone believes Konnor Griffin should be in majors at 19.

Just speaking for myself but these Pirates tv broadcasts are unwatchable at times. Constantly they have these booth visits and interviews that go on for so long. I just want to watch the game and have the announcers discussing it. This other stuff they should do postgame imo.

My guess is there is a 100% chance they reached an agreement on a long-term deal or else he’s in Indianapolis for a few more weeks. We all know he has no business being in AAA to begin with and he was only down there to suppress service time.
My hope for all baseball fans is that the issue of suppressing service time is solved in the next CBA. It’s bad for baseball!

@RobbyInc62 6 games after scuffling in ST and then staring hot in AAA with Big Tree not hitting in the bigs. It makes sense to send him down and now call him up. KB and KG/Skenes and the BC Bucs are apples and oranges. Keep the goalposts stationary!

Also, friendly reminder, Griffin is probably going to make quite a few errors. That’s what young shortstops do. Bobby Witt Jr had a .959 fielding % his rookie year. There should be no calls to move him back to the OF or to 2B or 3B because he doesn’t have a stellar defensive year

@JonPgh I’d say yes and no. Better quality hitters, but also fielders in the bigs. In the minors, I think it has more to do with janky field conditions. Some of those fields are like the Acrisure turf in December.
