@Shebbie4nyc I think the question is “will bike riders get the same courtesy of going 11 mph over the limit ?

INBOX: @NYCMayor says he's going to end criminal enforcement of low-level cyclists and e-bike rider infractions. NYPD will instead issue civil summonses.

Any tickets getting issued to that #PlacardPerp when they've got a paper plate and the VIN is hidden are never getting paid, right @NYCFinance @NYCComptroller? Does the congestion pricing toll get paid, @MTA?
placard corruption@placardabuse

This car with an expired temporary NJ paper license plate was parked illegally in a No Standing zone in Manhattan while it was in effect. But it had a @bklynchaveirim #FakePlacard, so @NYPDTransport skipped over this #PlacardPerp while hunting for cars that they could ticket.

📢Breaking News: Speed limits will be reduced to 15 MPH near schools citywide. Using Sammy's Law, we're starting with 800 school locations this year, with plans to expand to all 2,300 school locations across the five boroughs. 🔗bit.ly/4safLoR

Wholeheartedly enjoying the cranks all up in arms about the new 15mph speed limit in NYC school zones. Same cranks that cheered when former Mayor Adams set 15mph speeds for ebikes AND and given a criminal summons for 16+. Drivers still get a 10mph grace and tix in mail. STFU!

@Qnz1990 Drive down Northern Blvd. I walk down it often. I have dozens of photos of bike riders being pulled over. Only seen 3 cars in that same span.

@EricsRambles No, you're lying. Cycling is an effective method transportation. The number of people who cycle to work in Barcelona increased by 83 percent. Hamburg 66 percent. Lisbon 97 percent. Vancouver 57 percent. San Francisco 48 percent. Get lawst

And many who are young, able-bodied and only need to worry about transporting themselves do bike. But that's only a slice of the population of a big city like NYC.
Nestor Jara@cmifuso

@EricsRambles @NYC_DOT @TransAlt Looks like an invitation to all those drivers sitting in traffic: Get a bike. Sustainable, healthy, cheap.

@NebonCell @ImproveMass Fares should as you are paying for a service. That service needs to be funded by the people using it.

@0kCorker @ImproveMass Fares alone cannot fully finance public transportation, as it would become as expensive as taxis. However, public transportation itself doesn't need to be profitable directly, as providing people with mobility boosts the local economy. Profit is not always in money.

You dont hate *drivers enough I asked a coworker who "supports public transit" if a bus lane that saves 10min for 13,000 riders but makes commutes 30sec longer for 8,000 drivers was a worthwhile trade and he said "no its unfair to drivers to delay them for bus riders"

Almost everywhere you drive is now in a school zone, so this is essentially lowering the speed limit citywide. This is yet another proposal to punish Outer Borough residents who rely on cars to get around and would make living in New York City even more unbearable and more unaffordable nypost.com/2026/03/16/us-…

PRISCILLA'S LAW NOW! This is a woman that was hit by a biker that didn’t stop for a red light at 40th St & Queens Blvd. She was crossing from the Lowery St. Subway Station. The bicyclist was “filtering” through traffic that was stopped for the light. The NYPD Officer that was on scene let the bicyclist go, allegedly because he was a minor. She needed an ambulance, I’m guessing she got the bill for that ride. The Bicyclists need to be licensed and insured.

@NebonCell @ImproveMass That’s just a symptom of it not working and a reason to raise the fares. If so many people use it and it’s not working just means the fares are too low :)

@0kCorker @ImproveMass It's hard to scratch you ass when you have little space around you :) Besides, if public transit is overcrowded, that's both symptom of it being maintained wrong, and a reason to improve it - as there are enough people using it to justify spending.

Very happy to see this. I've represented many cyclists given these criminal summons & the wasted time & anxiety they were forced to endure, which drivers committing the same violations do not, was unconscionable. Thanks to @ZohranKMamdani for returning sanity to thise enforcement
Streetsblog New York City@StreetsblogNYC

Starting March 27, NYPD will start treating cyclists the same as drivers by stopping the Adams-era practice of writing criminal summonses to cyclists for minor traffic offenses. @SophLebo reports at the Zohramp:
