It is not about the fasting per se. It is more that they are requiring us to not eat or cook around them. I fasted for 24 hours last week. Not for religious reasons, even though I am Christian, but more for health reasons. I did not ask anyone around me not to cook or not to eat anything in front of me. In fact I don't think those that observe lent make any demands on others as to where they can cook or what they can eat in front of them. That is where the rub is. If you want to fast that is your choice, but don't expect me to abide by the rules you have set for yourself.

Imagine eating two huge meals a day for an entire month and calling it "fasting.” This is Ramadan.
