@big_duca SOC 2 is fine. It makes startups get their shit together. For example, your board notes provide traceability. Even if its only yourself.

SOC 2 has always been a BS certificate for startups. I remember part of it was submitting “board meeting notes”. Our board is literally one person: me. I’m going to have a meeting with myself? Sounds psychopathic.

I used to get really mad at every hard part with running my startup. Angry users, hard product to build, seasonality, etc… It’s super hard. But every reason that makes your business painful to run. Become your moat over time. Others aren’t stupid enof to endure the pain.

I went to a fancy ass dinner with my gf. I just kept saying stuff like “AI can’t eat this ricotta like me”. And she was just like wtf are you saying. We live in an autistic bubble.

Yes Japan is great. There are some people in the US that would have returned your wallet, not as fast, and no one would run down a hallway! But in Japan there is basically zero crime, respect for each other, and pretty much everyone would return your wallet. Nature vs Nurture. This is a cultural thing that is created from nurture.

Thirty minutes ago, I almost lost it all on a Japanese subway. And it made me sad about the state of crypto. I was exhausted. 9pm. Jet lag hitting, belly jiggling (from dinner). Couldn’t keep my eyes open. And soon I was fast asleep. When we arrived at our station, my gf gently nudged me to wake up. My eyes darted open. I jumped up and exited the subway. But nothing so far is related to crypto (you’re prob thinking). Soon… When I got to the subway exit I realized: “fuck, where is my wallet!” In my sleepy haze I had forgotten it on the subway. Fml. But my gf was undeterred. We went to the station manager and explained the situation. He ran down the hallway and disappeared for 10 min. When he came back, he said someone had already returned it to lost and found. One station away… Within 30 minutes, I had my wallet back. And all its contents. My initial instinct was all my shit was gone forever. Crypto taught me this. If this was crypto, the person who found my wallet would have drained it for all it’s worth. And the station manager would’ve kicked me in the nuts for asking for help. This is the problem with our industry. We don’t have a culture of working together. Winning together. I can’t feel slightly relieved I have my wallet, but also sad. Crypto has jaded my trust in humans. And also, Japan is so much better than the US.

When you stream Spotify to Bluetooth speakers or headphones, the audio comes over the network lossily compressed with Vorbis or AAC codecs, is then decoded on your device to 48 Khz raw samples, then the Bluetooth stack lossily re-compresses it with SBC or AAC codecs before sending it over the airwaves to the speakers. I don’t have “golden ears” to pick apart audio quality like I can with, say, missing gamma correction on texture filtering, but that still hurts my system optimization soul. It is likely over-optimization, but It would be cleaner if there were a way to send bluetooth-ready, compressed audio directly.

You know how in the morning you dream big about the day. How hard you'll exercise. The focus you'll maintain. The emotional regulation to be cool. The discipline to do it all. Then, normally, it all goes to shit. Well today, a perfect day. Nearly never happens. Feels amazing.
