I’m here for the kids. Yes, I want to win. I want to win state championships. I want to win multiple championships. But at the end of the day, my legacy won’t be trophies or rings. Trophies collect dust. Rings tarnish. My true legacy will live in the hearts and minds of the young men who came through my program.
I’m in the life-changing business.
My “why”? IMPACT. My mission is to change the trajectory of the lives of the young men who look up to me, not just as their head football coach, but as a leader, mentor, and servant. Am I perfect? No.
Do I strive to be? Absolutely. Every single day, I’m working to grow as a husband, a father, a teacher, and a man. Life is about growth. Someone once said there are four things every human needs to live a meaningful life: •Something to love •Something to look forward to •Something to work on •Something to believe in I’m not sure if you needed to hear that today or if I did. But I know this:

@LegKickNationOG There is no state in this country where traveling 7 states away makes sense for any age, much less an 8u team.

My friend told me he went (7 states away) for an 8u “national championship”. “Unbelievable experience. Wanted him to get exposure to the competition out there.” I honestly wonder what % of kids that go to a tourney like that end up being legitimate dudes by 18?

@AndersonBobo_ Tyreek ran 10.19 and 20.14 as a high schooler in 2012. He is a world class track talent who chose to play football.

Context for just how STUNNING Jane Hedengren's 9:17.75 high school 2 Mile record was: She would rank in the BOYS Top 10 for 2M/3200 in 3⃣0⃣ out of 50 states for the 2025 outdoor season. She'd be Top 3 on those lists in 1⃣4⃣ states!! And No. 1 on the Boys rankings in 3⃣ states.

@BravesStash The Braves have an analytics team to think about these things. They will go with lineups that yield the highest expected number of wins over the course of a season. In simple terms, you want your best pitchers starting more games in a season, not fewer.

Coach Bill Thorn has shaped the lives of countless student-athletes—including mine. A man of character, care, and relentless drive, he led teams to 42 state titles while challenging athletes to be their best. At 94, he’s still as impressive as ever. What an honor to visit him.

I talked to a recent D1 recruiting coordinator. He said: “I don’t even read emails from players anymore. If they’re good, someone I trust will tell me.” That’s the game. Relationships > Cold emails. Get in the right circles.
