@jmillincook Try not to think of things as all or nothing. It’s not healthy in any facet of life.

I need to be a more active student of the gospel. My issue is thinking my personal study needs to be just like it was when I was on my mission, or it’s all for naught. 😅 How do I break out of this habit??

I don’t see how a story about selling your car just to pay tithing can be framed as anything but troubling.

Yuri Bezmenov's Ghost

Here’s Ben Stein in 1979 describing television as an engine of cultural demoralization. He argues that a small clique of producers and writers pushed a left-coded inversion of reality onto the public. They despised traditional power centers and hated figures like Buckley. They propagandized the nation into accepting a fake world where businessmen are villains, criminals are the good-guys, small towns are sinister, military officers are proto-fascists, and work barely exists.
Yuri Bezmenov's Ghost@Ne_pas_couvrir

In the 1970s Ben Stein interviewed major TV producers/writers to ask why their portrayal of US culture was so distorted. Businessmen were evil. Real life crime was always depicted inaccurately, favoring instead the Marxist narratives on race, class, and culture of the new left.

I was feeling a tinge of sadness that my son was missing out on our #generalconference tradition of blueberry muffins. I felt the Spirit knowing we were both standing and sustaining the prophet. Me at home. He at the MTC. 🥹 🙋🏼‍♂️

I’m a stopped at a red light. Listening to conference. I look over and both myself and a man in a mini van both rose our hands to the square at the same time. Coincidence? I think not. Sustained #GeneralConference

@BlackBlessedLDS Understanding symbolism in ancient cultures makes a big difference in how you view this. Most of what is in Genesis likely didn’t happen exactly as it’s stated. It’s largely symbolic and I’m ok with that. It doesn’t mean Adam & Eve weren’t real people but the bible isn’t literal.

I can see how The Bible alone can confuse some on this matter. So those who genuinely are and not just rage baiting: This is one of many reasons why The Book of Mormon is important. Helps clarify truth lost, confounded, or misinterpreted in The Bible. ——————————————————— “Therefore, as the soul could never die, and the fall had brought upon all mankind a spiritual death as well as a temporal, that is, they were cut off from the presence of the Lord, it was expedient that mankind should be reclaimed from this spiritual death.” - Alma 42:9 “Yea, behold, this death bringeth to pass the resurrection, and redeemeth all mankind from the first death—that spiritual death; for all mankind, by the fall of Adam being cut off from the presence of the Lord, are considered as dead, both as to things temporal and to things spiritual.” - Helaman 14:16
PIMO Mormon@pimomormon

Bring it on Christians! You’re still wrong on this. God lied to Adam and Eve.

@Lydia5321181048 The Ancient Tradition is phenomenal. You have to start at the beginning and get through the first few episodes and it will help your symbolism/temple/scripture literacy like crazy. Super cool and not boring.

Mormons: If someone raised in modern Jehovah’s Witnesses, after changes to blood transfusion rules, tried to correct ex-JWs about “what the religion really teaches,” would you take that seriously? Or would you recognize they never actually lived the version they’re redefining?

I do not blame artists for not painting Joseph with a rock in a hat. That would look a lot less inspiring than these pictures. It is still inspiring, and these pictures do show what he was doing to translate the Book of Mormon. But the message would not come across to everyone. I have also always known about the seer stone and hat story. This information was never hidden from me.

@AllRoadsDigital Two different people can have different answers to the same question and it can still be true. Particularly if it is situational. Given a certain situation person 1 may be given the impression to do thing A, while person 2 may be given the impression to do thing B.

From the overwhelming majority opinion it seems the first and final safeguard and authority in Mormonism is personal subjective experiences that are identified as "the holy Spirit"? If this is the case we have a real big problem, since many people in LDS and out of LDS claim the same experiences lead them to different conclusions. I have a lot to say on this, but will leave it for another day. Thank you very much for the responses and may God bless you as the season of Lent ends and Easter begins ❤️ 🙏 Jesus is Risen!
