Speaking with the "top experts" sends a very confusing message since all the experts whose views did not align with the "safe and effective" narrative where shut out of the conversation. @erinotoole please share the names of these top experts, it would be useful in discovering who was responsible for wrecking our lives.

This is hilarious. @erinotoole is actually high on his own supply. “Below my normal intellectual standard…” Nice back handed compliment. I normally assume that I don’t have to give a proper wall of text every time. But, since you asked. Here it is: Summary: when Erin O’Toole was leader, the @CPC_HQ took the politically “safe” response, not the courageous or correct response. There is wide difference between those two. This disconnect here is the problem. Let’s exegete this a little: The first thing you will notice is the “we.” There is no “I” wherein Erin would be held personally responsible. There is an always a committee, a team, or a process from which decisions mysteriously emerge and then implemented but no one bears personal responsibility. If something goes wrong, the finger always pointed to the policy or the process or the way it was implemented never at a person (unless a personal failure is so egregious that its impossible to avoid taking responsibility). Otherwise, the ordinary course of affairs is that everything goes back to committee and the processes and policies are reexamined and plans are updated. The same people who developed the original plan are often the same ones fixing them. Even if they are not, they are largely interchangeable because the process of governance is more important than any one person or persons who staff the system. This is by design. This is the way the managerial system is supposed to work. In this system the politicians represent the plans of the experts to the people, to give them legitimacy. Erin O’Toole’s role is to justify the decisions of the “we” because that is what politicians do in our current system. They do not lead. They manage, run for public office and are the public face of the professional expert class. That is it. That is what politicians do. Additionally, the idea that these decisions were made using “science” is just silly because all of the actual science up to the outbreak said to do the exact opposite of what was recommended. So how were the decisions made? Risk analysis. There was the option to do nothing. High risk. But, there was this whole suite of dubious interventions that could be enacted that would give the impression that something was being done to address the fears of the people. Here is the beauty of it from the perspective of the politician, experts and bureaucrats is that it is hard to make the case that the interventions did little or even made things worse. (*cough, cough* Sweden and Florida). So from the perspective of the our political, managerial class, this did work out just fine. They can hang the hypothetical “We couldn’t have done nothing. We did something and the virus wasn’t that bad in the end, so it must have done some good.” This is the reasoning. It’s a pure political calculation and I get it. This is how the system works and how these decisions are actually made. Risk analysis. And in a crisis you need to be seen to be “managing” the crisis. The idea that someone would step forward and taken charge and lead, saying something like, “This will blow over. Some will get sick, some will die, but this cannot be prevented. We are just going to do nothing and let it pass.” Never going to happen because the whole system’s purpose is to “solve” problems using technique. So of course the decisions for which Erin O’Toole was the front man have aged well in his mind. His role is to defend these decisions. Not challenge or question them. These decisions have all been made using a risk calculus based on “doing something.” So something was done and it turns out the pandemic wasn’t that bad so the things they did must have helped. There is no “science” involved. That is all just cover for a calculated political decision. Leadership in that moment would have involved real risk and that could not be tolerated. So instead of leadership we go what we got.

@_kruptos This is below your normal intellectual standard and might be a sign that emotion is clouding your judgment. I would also remind you that the opposition did not make decisions. We held to account. We opposed where appropriate and proposed alternatives.

Incredible we lived through this without totally losing our civility. The people responsible for this need to be made to account.

@LibrariumViews The UN Compact 2030 on Migrants and Climate along with their vision, as outlined in Agenda 21, ties many of the issues together. The conclusion one could reach is climate induced migrant crisis, sustainable dev and nation specific immigration policies will all be in play. Canada!

I see it every day. Friends, family, and even your doctor will push back on your results and will question your methods. But photographs and scans make their objections collapse. The MRI ends the lie, and shuts a lot of people up.

Unvaxxed and never had covid or the test. The majority of politicians were ignored by their leadership, NGOs and expert class. Parliament has become a theatre of the irrelevant. The courts failed to conduct rigorous reviews of the emergency measures. A complete failure of our institutions. This is what must be debated and reformed.

I lost almost my entire social circle. My wife and kids got treated like garbage by people who were supposed to love them. Family turned on us for three years while some spoiled drama teacher with a God complex stood at a podium and told millions of Canadians for 3 years we were degenerate diseased animals. And now you think the problem is Twitter? No Erin. People aren’t angry because of an app dimwit. They’re angry because they got screwed and traumatized, and now morons like you want to blame a phone instead of the people who did it and still haven't had the decency to apologize. Parasite
Erin O'Toole@erinotoole

@RealMattA_ It is quite sad how fear and anger during the pandemic changed many people. My concern with social media is that the algorithm never lets them escape that fear and anger even years later.

The point here is that while the early days were naturally confusing and uninformed decisions were being made, we know a great deal more now. Covid is the case study for future emergencies and either learn from it or we repeat it. Politicians should never be permitted to play a lead role again.

@erinotoole @_kruptos It's a start. My math says we are somewhere closer to the beginning heading in the right direction. Do not dismiss the expert witnesses who provide testimony at the National Citizens Inquiry. These are recognized scientist whose voices were cancelled.

@DukeMarcude @_kruptos Again, most of what you post is completely wrong. The MRNA had a lot of peer-reviewed support. The mandate, lockdowns beyond the first wave and other policies had little support, but don’t suggest that about the vaccines. You are 25% of the way there.

@erinotoole @_kruptos Half way there sir. Everyone supports proven vaccines and science. But it was the wrong approach and the evidence shows mandates were unscientific, the shot 100% experimental and harm to society real, carrying longterm negative consequences.

@echipiuk @RadioCanadaInfo It will not be the old guard that will carry the vision of a better future. I lived in Alberta in the 80's and undetstand their desire for self determination. Fixing Canada means correcting past wrongs. Keep up the great effort @echipiuk of building bridges.

It has already been found that Jason Kenney illegally invoked public health orders in Alberta, and a class action has been certified on behalf of businesses harmed by those actions. And now he is being paraded around warning that even talking about independence is “risky.” Jason needs to look in the mirror and at least have the guts to own that your actions had devastating consequences for countless Alberta businesses.
Eva Chipiuk, BSc, LLB, LLM@echipiuk

Below is the first class action certified for misfeasance in public office arising from the illegal use of public health orders that devastated businesses. And now you claim to be a champion of Alberta businesses and economic growth as well? Come on, Jason. This is your legacy. Businesses were destroyed, livelihoods were lost, and many Albertans are still living with the consequences. At least have the guts to own in.
