Our veterans risked their lives to protect our freedoms and keep our country safe, and they deserve full access to the benefits they’ve earned. Unfortunately, our veterans who serve less than 20 years and medically retire don't receive any retirement pay. I co-sponsored the Major Richard Star Act to close this loophole and finally give our wounded warriors the benefits they’re entitled to.

Hi, the #MajorRichardStarAct is for combat-related medically retired veterans who were medically retired for wounds received. If they receive Combat Related Special Compensation, they are eligible. CRSC is way less than their VA disability compensation, which is why Major Richard Star fought so hard for this.
Unfortunately, as in many things, some politicians are getting in the way of this legislation.

It’s not double dipping, one is the retirement for their career and the other is VA compensation for their injuries.
When a veteran is medically retired from combat related injuries, their VA disabiiity is removed from their retirement checks. It’s already been funded, so they’re stealing the disability payments for other budget items.

We’ve always had a way to pay for it, but there’s never been anyone who is actually willing to make the vote happen.
It’s been year after year of the same talk, and you can’t cross the aisle for this? It’s one issue that so many have advocated, pushed and hoped for.
