Exercises depend on: stock price levels mNAV levels market conditions periods of market recovery So instead of sitting around waiting for equity-linked financing to come in, Metaplanet said: “Fine. We’ll issue a 0% bond today, buy Bitcoin now, and repay the bond later when the rights get exercised.” That is aggressive, but elegant. It is basically a Bitcoin acquisition bridge loan. But if we’re suddenly pretending this is some shocking new scandal, let’s be honest: this should also serve as a glaring spotlight on the much bigger, normalized problem of insider trading inside the U.S. government, especially in Congress. There, insider trading is basically the business model. Members routinely trade stocks and options while sitting on non-public legislative information that moves markets, and it’s almost entirely unchecked. Just look at Pelosi: her husband’s suspiciously well-timed options trades around major bills and events have been documented for years, yet somehow it’s treated as “just how the game is played.” So punish the soldier who bet a few thousand bucks on Polymarket, but maybe while we’re at it, we should also notice that foreign intelligence agencies don’t even need to watch betting markets for signals when they can just monitor congressional stock trades that are far more lucrative and far less scrutinized.
