@ZiskindYuval @haningdr Why wouldn't Israel neutralize the top guy, biggest moral win during a war if you ask me. It isn't like they want hizb to exist and they want something favorable.

Today, Hezbollah’s leader Naim Qassem said that displacement is part of Jihad. He said that while sleeping in a warm bed and eating a warm meal 🤦🏻‍♀️

@gianlucadiddio @bonchieredstate True, but there are gradations and distinctions. Israel can't simply invent stories completely detached from reality, e.g. the IDF didn't kill any non-combatants within Gaza during the war. Whereas, the force they were facing relies on that type of messaging.

@bonchieredstate Tbf, in war people lie chronically. It's impossible to keep up with these news without having to sort real information through a thousand lies. Same goes for the current US-Iran war: both sides lie constantly

If even half of what they claim about Gaza was true, would they have to constantly lie like this?

Breaking: Israeli warplanes carried out an airstrike on tents of displaced civilians in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. Do not forget the genocide in Gaza.

@elephant_ben But there's also no reality where Israel holds that land without just generating more conflict, more resistance, more support for Hezbollah. There's no military solution here.

Iran presenting its war as “vengeance” for Native American expropriation and Epstein island is just more proof of America’s total cultural dominance. Iran has no political ethos that it can project outwardly, it has to filter itself through fringe American lenses.

@AltBias @woke8yearold This is the best talking point from The Resistance. No one is saying Trump is Emmanuel Swedenbourg, but the idea that the IRI was run by geniuses is belued by the fact that almost all of them were killed within the first week of this war.

@pascallisp @KenGardner11 @davereaboi It might, but I don't see it completely collapsing with no ground force. As many IRGC who have died, there are still thousands more who haven't had to actually engage in combat and can be used to suppresss dissent.

@GerardPerry13 @KenGardner11 @davereaboi That was a different war however. The regime was nascent and many felt patriotic in the defense of their country and mixed in with all the revolutionary bs with it pumped people up. The regime won't give in but pounding it enough and taking out enough people can lead to collapse.

@pascallisp @KenGardner11 @davereaboi Yeah, as long as there are bodies to staff the regime and its security apparatus I don't see them giving in. Regardless of how hard they're being pounded. They fought a needless war against Iraq for 6 years after they pushed the Iraqi army off of its soil.

@KenGardner11 @davereaboi First off it's a death cult. Second they rather die than give up because giving up means the brutal murder of everyone they know including themselves while not giving up is possibly death but also if they survive they can continue their looting of Iran.

@aryehazan Hamas runs a country in all but name. Gaza isn't recognized as an independent state but for all practical purposes it is one. And Hamas had an actual army there. Hamas doesn't care, up to a point. It's just sociopathic but even it essentially capitulated eventually.

very important points among the many reasons that Hamas has turned out to be a more formidable enemy than Iran and Hizbulla is that they don't need to run a country their people can starve -- or not, whatever, someone will take care of it the Iranian regime actually ran a country -- and when they're no longer able to do that is precisely when they fall as a regime and the way Iran goes Hizbulla will follow
David Reaboi, Late Republic Nonsense@davereaboi

I don’t think the regime will ever surrender outright. But it’ll soon be unable to function even to the extent it does—especially as the summer heat will strain the water supply in Iran. One of the things we should’ve learned over the last two decades: while relatively primitive terror groups like Hamas can survive and regenerate, it’s a lot more difficult to rebuild a semi-modern state, or even a terrorist army like Hezbollah. The skillset required to replace a warlord is a lot different from that which replaces a general, a bureaucrat or an engineer. And, of course, more complex states and groups are that much more vulnerable to Israeli technological superiority and intelligence. There’s a fog of war happening now—all we see are what remains of the regime that’s still functioning: some missile launchers, a small cadre of leadership to talk to the press. As the missiles run out, we’ll start to see a lot more of the chaos that’s happening over there.

@GerardPerry13 @NeilPHauer That's a load of BS, they hit tens of thousands of targets, a lot of that is civilians homes and infrastructure. even if its just from being in the blast radius. Most citizens rally around the flag when their country is attacked by a foreign power.

Talking to Iranians who have fled to Armenia, I have heard largely the same. One a few days ago told me: "I don't know anyone who was killed in the strikes. I know 22 people who were killed by the regime in January."

1. NPR’s @EmilyZFeng has been interviewing Iranians who’ve recently fled to Turkey. She reports that “most people told us they supported the strikes.” npr.org/2026/03/24/nx-…
