Her comment was that this isn’t the Middle Ages where doctors have no idea what’s going on. You might get one that surprises you, but over 20 in a year is inexplicable by natural causes.

In his closing speech at Lucy Letby's trial Ben Myers alleged Dr B (V at TI) caused Child P's collapse that led to the baby's death by negligence with Dr Brearey and Dr B covering it up by blaming Lucy Letby. See attached.

Yes, the funny thing is that people like Debs sort of get it, but then manage to miss it completely at the same time. But, probabilities are so counterintuitive. If we can all get the Monty Hall problem wrong, and fall victim to base rate neglect—and we all do—we should not be surprised that prosecutors, judges and juries do too. “The fact she was highly unlikely to commit murder is beside the point, if she actually did commit murder”. This is correct. But (unlike Debs, who is special, obviously) a criminal court deals not in “ontological certainty” — unimpeachable truth— but “epistemic uncertainty”—a collection of observations from which inferences must still be drawn. These are not known knowns. They can only be estimated. They are expressed as probabilities. There were not witnesses. No-one knows. The jury must draw inferences. It can only do that probabilistically. Expressed in Bayesian terms: “That Ms. Letby’s prior probability of committing murder was very low is beside the point, if posterior facts indicate strongly that she actually did commit murder”. Correct. If. A very low “prior” probability can be converted to a very high “posterior” one, if there is specific information justifying it. That information is “evidence”. Evidence is very important. Evidence can be strong—a room full of eyewitnesses; closed-circuit TV footage—and it can be weak: random words scribbled on a post-it note. In Ms. Letby’s case, there is very little strong “posterior information”. There is a striking absence of evidence that specifically implicates Ms. Letby. this is why the staff attendance sheet was so pivotal. Nothing else, in the slightest, implicates Ms. Letby specifically. Nothing whatsoever. There are fewer implicating correlations than you would expect by sheer chance. Hence, the CPS were obliged to resort to things as feeble as “oh look! she wrote the word insulin next to the title of a Roberta Flack single on a cramped piece of A4 that someone found in her handbag three years after the alleged event!”

Of all the things the “Evanites” say, the least compelling is “but you are hurting the feelings of bereaved parents.”
