Happily this is changing (slowly), over the past 12 months I have delivered autism training to staff who work in hospices, to midwives & to LD nurses). This paper is a very accessible read & covers many of the barriers I & other autistic people encounter: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

Autistic people can expect to live shorter lives than non autistic people, this can be because of co-occurring conditions (e.g. epilepsy is more common in autistic people compared to non autistic people) however it can also be because of barriers to healthcare.
