Proud to share the first of our two-part sequel papers on the #TUS-#DBS project! @NatureComms nature.com/articles/s4146… We recorded local field potentials using #PerceptPc #DBS systems in #Parkinsons patients while applying transcranial ultrasound stimulation (#TUS) — aiming to better understand its effects and mechanisms. This project began almost 4 years ago, with the first two dedicated to securing ethical approval for human trials. Last year, we successfully collected data from 17 #STN- and 10 #GPi-DBS implanted patients. This first paper focuses on the #GPi cohort and features four shared first authors (Ghazel, @HamidRamezanpou, Regina, and myself) and two shared senior authors (Drs. @RobertC21093233 Chen and Lozano). Grateful for the support from @WestonFamilyFdn, @CIHR_IRSC, @KBI_UHN, and @KrembilF. We believe this study marks a meaningful step forward for the #TUS field. It’s also one of the largest collaborative efforts between @UofTNeurology and @UofTNeuroSurge.
