Empty sites of 5th Main, HSR Lyt & it's cross roads, Sec and 7. Despite multiple complaints and requests, GBA officials are too reluctant to address the issues by either clearing it themselves or reaching out to the owners instagram.com/reel/DW0-3jGgp…

This two-minute video captures the reality of #Bengaluru beyond headlines or political narratives of being India’s IT capital. No footpaths. Footpaths taken over by garbage. Abandoned vehicles. Sewage on the streets. Broken roads. Oversized political posters choking already congested roads. The entire area stinks of urine and shit This isn’t a one-off stretch. This is near Banashankari bus stand, a route I take every single evening with my 10-year-old daughter. We proudly call Bengaluru cosmopolitan and people-friendly. But will those words hold meaning for the next generation if this is the reality they grow up seeing? She recently asked me, “Isn’t there a better place in India to move to?” I didn’t have an answer. @DKShivakumar this is not about perception anymore. It’s about lived reality. It makes me cry to see what our city is going through. When will it shake you up?! @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office @TVMohandasPai @kiranshaw @bhatnaturally @venkat_fin9 @IamKishorBhat @KiranAradhyaadv @WeAreBangalore

Whole city looks like a dumpyard, but the focus is on IPL tickets and VIP lounges. Thank you @DKShivakumar 🙏

●In a great move to de-congest & bring back the beautiful streets of #Bengaluru to life, #Karnataka DCM @DKShivakumar has ordered for clearance of mushrooming hawkers. ● Shall tow away all illegal & abandoned vehicle parked ●heavy penalty proposed for Banners. ● @GBA_office needs to implement it strictly. Civic sense will automatically prevail, if strict rules are in place. ● Strict Action on garbage dumping is a successful example.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but if infrastructure like this 👇 gets blown up, as of this moment it will take at least a decade to recover from this war - and the truth is that the world's energy picture is probably changed forever. This single facility 👇produced roughly 20% of global LNG supply (aljazeera.com/news/2026/3/18…) and, as of 2011, had taken $70 billion to build (energyintel.com/0000017b-a7be-…). What makes this even worse is that Iran's strike on this was retaliation after Israel attacked their South Pars gas field which draws from the same natural gas reservoir, which is the world's largest by far (9,700 km² - about the size of Qatar itself). Heck, on the list of the 25 largest natural gas fields (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_n…) this single reservoir holds roughly 40% of their combined recoverable reserves - and is nearly 6 times bigger than the 2nd biggest field in the world. And, unlike many of the others on the list, it's only at 10% depletion (meaning 90% of the gas is still there). Which means that, probably for many years, a huge share of the gas from the world's largest reservoir simply won't be extractable, as infrastructure on both sides - Qatar's and Iran's - has now been blown up. From a global energy supply perspective, we're deep into worst-case scenario territory.

Bravo Team Cuddalore ! What was once a plastic-choked and garbage-filled canal has bounced back in full force. An inspiring transformation in the village of Pichavaram under Tamil Nadu’s Climate Resilient Village initiative. We have rejuvenated 3 kms of the clogged village canal by removing 750 Kgs of plastic, invasives like prosopis and strengthened the embankment to restore natural water flow in Picchavaram back waters. Along its banks, 3,000 mangroves have been planted with 600 local Community members participating, thereby recreating a thriving ecosystem and strengthening coastal resilience. This remarkable effort was led by the Director of Environment Thiru Rahul Nadh, the District Collector Cuddalore Thiru Sibi Adhithya along with their committed team. Great efforts by CF Thiru Periasamy, DFO Thiru Gurusamy and Ranger Thiru Iqbal in planting mangroves for ecological restoration. #ClimateResilientVillage #MangroveRestoration #TamilNadu #Climateaction Video After and Before

I've so far stayed away from commenting on @BLRAirport's sudden decision to charge all commercial taxi operators ₹285 to enter T1 and pick-up passengers within 10 mins - every additional 5 mins is another ₹150. And even this spot is a 5 min walk from arrivals gate. The free P4/P3 is a 10-15 min walk and there's a free bus shuttle - but it's super inconvenient with luggage or for aged parents, and there's no cover (so good luck during rains). For 3+ months now, this has become highly inconvenient for all our guests & it's been hurting our business. I myself wouldn't book a @shoffr_in from P3/P4, and last time when I paid for premium parking realised that it's not really that premium. Still, I didn't feel like I should create an issue out of this - after all, every busines including BIAL wants to increase their revenue. But recently someone close to me reminded me that we have a voice, and we should use it - not just for our benefit, but also for that of thousands of other individual taxi drivers and small fleet owners. And most importantly, for all the travellers who are now either forced to walk or select expensive-and-not-worth-it options that are in front of them. I'm not saying don't charge us - but going from 0 to ₹285 is a steep increase and gives no time for businesses to adjust and account for this cost. Instead I propose charging ₹100 per entry for 2026, and then increasing it to ₹200 next year. It's a fair trade-off between adding a revenue stream (which was non-existent for years) and not inconveniencing the very passengers who use and bring revenue to your airport. And it gives time for businesses to adapt. The current situation is unfair to commercial taxi operators, inconvenient for travellers - and so reflective of the monopolistic position of BIAL and airports in general. I kindly request the relevant authorities to use this position in a manner that improves the ecosystem for everyone, rather than disbalance it. To those reading this - if you've been impacted and agree with my views, please repost this in the hope that it's picked by media and Govt. authorities so that BIAL is forced to rethink it's current approach. They might be a monopoly we can't escape using, but we all have a voice too. Let's make them hear us 🙏🏼 deccanherald.com/india/karnatak…

This needs to be said: We are at Jim Corbett and apparently there is no restriction on loud music till 10:30pm in the night. The roads are full of cars speeding around, at least 30 jeeps plying in one area of the forest, you can see brunt land on both sides and massive tree felling. So guilty of attending a family wedding here, I cannot say. There’s one I skipped because I didn’t want to be a party to destroying the habitat of animals. But why is Uttarakhand government allowing weddings in a forest reserve? I know my tweet will have zero reaction but Please tag the concerned agencies when you read this. @ukcmo @uttrakhand24 @AniUttarakhand

Agara Lake #Bangalore is really in very bad condition a few years back this lake was developed, spending 20+ crores, but today it's in total shambles. Lots of dust makes it unfit for walking ,unswept pathways ,no green cover, faulty street lamps , cut opened fence and more.

There is an invisible layer that affects many friendships in Bengaluru. That layer is called urban and civic exhaustion. Friendships don’t fade because people don’t care. They fade because the city quietly drains the energy required to sustain them. The traffic takes an hour out of your evening. Work spills into what used to be personal time. Weekends become recovery periods rather than social ones. You start saying things like: “Let’s meet soon.” “Next week for sure.” “Once things settle down.” Things rarely settle down. What earlier required a 10 minute auto ride now requires planning, coordination, and stamina. You have to build stamina to be rejected by drivers on apps, to cross under constructed sites, to take long jumps over open drainages and collect dust on your face. Friendships slowly move from physical spaces to WhatsApp reactions and Instagram replies. The affection is still there. The intent is still there. But the civic friction of the city sits between people. In cities like Bengaluru, maintaining friendships has quietly become an act of effort. And sometimes, effort is the first casualty of urban and civic exhaustion.

There’s a traffic jam on the old airport road footpath near Manipal. Pedestrians have lost their last safe space. Vendors, 2-wheelers, chaos! everything except walking. What started as an DULT pilot for sustainable mobility is now chaos. Where do pedestrians go? @blrcitytraffic

Our country’s obesity rate will reduce drastically if we make top 20 cities walkable. Just walkable. Make footpaths. Remove encroachments. Add barriers. Ban honking. Reducing obesity will reduce load on hospitals and make our country much more productive.
