@SuitablePolitic Iran has been completely neutered. No navy, no air force, no meaningful air defence, and fractured leadership. Makes you wonder how long the world will let them LARP as Somali pirates before they decide to just kick the living shit out of them

@Tweetman3434 @jonathan_ducote @RedEaglePatriot Oh my sweet summer child. Iran is a smoldering dumpster fire, on the brink of economic ruin. There are roughly 24 factions now fighting for control within the country. Any idea that the IRGC is "totally fine" with anything right now is smooth brained 70 IQ bullshit

@jonathan_ducote @RedEaglePatriot Of course it won’t. The only party desperate for a ceasefire is Trump. Iran and IRGC are totally fine with the current rate of conflict. And are going to hold firm on their demands. Those demands are in conflict, so no deal will be reached.

Trump left Iranian government in complete tatters. Thousands of leaders dead, decimated their navy, setback their missile launch effectiveness 85-90%, saw more setbacks to their nuclear hopes, etc.--and left behind the biggest power vacuum in the region since the 1970s. Some of the diaspora crowd won't be happy about this, but the only way the US can likely institute permanent, viable regime change is with a boots on the ground war that will likely cost thousands of Americans their lives. And most people simply just don't see that as worth it, and rightfully so, especially because the price of oil will skyrocket in the meantime. A poll that came out today showed the support for the intermediate ceasefire that included opening the Strait of Hormuz was at 66% support, 10% disapproval--a winner among independents. If they want change, I would suggest they need to take up arms themselves first. Nobody is entitled to use our military to their ends, no matter how noble their cause may be. Trump gave them that invitation, and we didn't see anything come of it. Is it possible that the diaspora crowd is just 100% not in-line with the interests of most of the current residents of Iran, even those who are not really that fond of the regime? Worth a thought, at a minimum. These things are a process, and they take time. Trump severely weakened Assad in 2017, and his regime went out with a whimper less than a decade later. Expecting Trump to go in and install the Shah overnight is not a realistic solution to the very real problem that exists with the hostile Iranian regime. A ceasefire does not mean that the job is finished by any means, but at least we now can focus more energy on domestic issues, such as immigration, defeating the left, and staving off the catastrophic Midterm losses that may be inevitable with the prolonging of this conflict. It's time to focus on what matters most!

NEW: An oil executive tells POLITICO that "hell yes" the US oil industry is contacting the White House, State Department, and VP Vance to protest Trump's proposal that would allow Iran to toll ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz. "What are you guys thinking?" Industry representatives estimate the tolls would add $2.5 million per shipment in fees and insurance costs and warn the framework could set precedent for Singapore and Turkey to charge tolls on the Strait of Malacca and the Bosporus.

@TheIranWatcher Interesting. So Trump withdraws for two weeks. Without a common enemy, the different factions in Iran are force to come to terms with the fact that the country is blown to shit and on the brink of collapse. Sometimes the best way to throw a punch is by taking a small step back ;)

🚨 The ceasefire and negotiations are tearing through the Islamic Republic’s own base. What was once controlled messaging has turned openly hostile, with rallies now filled with vitriolic attacks on regime figures. Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, who is leading talks with the U.S., is being openly insulted and denounced by regime supporters. He’s being called a “bastard” and a “freeloader” exposing deep fractures within the regime’s core.
The Iran Watcher 🇮🇷@TheIranWatcher

🚨 A fierce internal rift is erupting among Islamic Republic supporters over the ceasefire. Many are openly calling negotiations and a ceasefire “treacherous” and “humiliation,” arguing the regime must confront Israel and the U.S. rather than compromise. This rhetoric frames them as permanent enemies, rejecting any agreement outright. What’s emerging is not unity or “victory,” despite propaganda efforts, but deep division and instability within the regime’s own base.

@TradVat2 What checks and balances exist if judicial review is excluded? How is accountability ensured for the Attorney General’s decision? What criteria govern designation, termination, or extension? Can Congress or any oversight body challenge or review this determination?

@TonerousHyus @SuitablePolitic People keep referring to "Iran" as if it's a functioning country. Like the US negotiating with france or something. But it's really just a bunch of warring factions at this point, and Trump is pitting them against each other. It's going to rip apart.

@AlexBerenson Hey dickhead, if a ship doesn't pay iran's ransom to cross, is Iran going to fire on them? Isn't firing on civilian ships an act of piracy and a war crime? Why aren't you condemning that instead of railing against "the old man"? Rubber nose and big shoes for you!

My friend Craig Bergman offers a brilliant take: Unless you live under a rock or are intentionally obtuse, let me explain things. There is no cease-fire. The reason there is no cease-fire is Iran no longer has a functioning government. Trump negotiated with one of the larger factions. There are 24 factions Not all of them want peace. Not all of them will even negotiate. So what is Trump doing? It should be completely obvious to anyone who is not intentionally not wanting to understand. He is pitting the factions against each other with competing interests for money and power and safety. And when one of them betrays the other, they will take care of the bad one. If they don’t, then Trump will randomly target them again and blame them all as if they are one government. That will frustrate them greatly, causing them again to turn on each other because there is no longer any single central authority. This is absolutely brilliant, but if you think it’s gonna mean peace, if you think the Strait is really going to be open, and if you think Iran has surrendered and decided to play nice, you are delusional. If you think Trump wants to murder 90 million people you are beneath delusional: you are intentional. So chill out and watch the show: it is a master class. And yes, I’m not predicting it. I am telling you what is happening. This is not a guess. This is not an informed opinion. I am speaking fact. Watch it happen.

@kenyanese_1963 @SirWirtz @HormuzLetter The Ayatollah and 249 of his scumbag friends are dining in hell tonight. Iran's navy is sitting at the bottom of the ocean, and it's air force is lying in pieces on the tarmac. So you can cut it with the TACO shit. You sound like a complete retard.

@johnkonrad The idea that the US can "authorize" Iran to toll international waters as part of any deal is absurd. It would be a violation of maritime law. It's is free to act like Somalian pirates, but what if someone refuses to pay? They're going to bomb a civilian tanker? War crime?

@HormuzLetter The alternative is either Iran shuts it down permanently and everything crashes, or the US does a massive ground war invasion of Iran to install a friendly regime and nation build and everything crashes.

Interesting dynamic. White House is currently loudly and stridently trying to wish into reality that this ceasefire is a great victory. Iran is currently loudly and stridently trying to wish into reality a ceasefire wishlist that only they agreed to.

You are missing the point. This is not about whether married people make agreements. It is about using a patronizing analogy about his wife to explain dealing with a violent regime. A spouse is a human equal in a personal relationship; the Iranian regime is a criminal structure that controls a country by force. That is not even remotely the same category, which is exactly why the analogy is so absurd.

Telling response from the vice president on #Iran's regime's claim it has a right to enrich uranium: "And I thought to myself, you know what, my wife has the right to skydive, but she doesn't jump out of an airplane. Because she and I have an agreement that she's not going to do that, because I don't want my wife jumping out of an airplane." So it seems the U.S. position will be: Iran can say what it wants in terms of rights, but in practice it won't enrich uranium if there is to be a deal.
